Procedures Ammendment

Post by Andreas the Wise »

Current Text:
3. Voting
A.

1. After a bill has been presented to the Landsraad, there is a period of exactly four days (96 hours) during which the members of the Landsraad can then vote on it. Each member has one vote, which he or she may cast in any unambiguous way to represent a vote of aye or nay. A vote only applies to a bill exactly as it has been presented. At the end of the period, the Praetor counts the votes, announces the result, and if the ayes outnumber the nays, updates the LawBook with the changes.

3. Voting
[edit] A.

1. After a bill has been presented to the Landsraad, the members of the Landsraad may discuss it, and begin to vote. After one member of the Landsraad has cast a vote, there is a period of exactly four days (96 hours) during which the other members of the Landsraad can then vote on it. Each member has one vote, which he or she may cast in any unambiguous way to represent a vote of aye or nay. A vote only applies to a bill exactly as it has been presented when the first member voted. At the end of the period, the Praetor counts the votes, announces the result, and if the ayes outnumber the nays, updates the LawBook with the changes.
Just to stop bills disappearing before we've discussed them, should discussion be necessary. ;)
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:

Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Should we institute that we have to move for voting to begin?

No, but we do need something to establish when voting begins, not just at the whim of a Duke if the others are still discussing it.
What follows has lead me to this place where I belong, with all erased.

That's an alternative if we want to go more formal.

Perhaps that voting begins after 48 hours, and that any Duke can ask for an extension?

What about if the said duke does not vote during the extension?

Your Graces,

This Bill has failed due to lack of voting on it within the time stipulated by the Procedures of the Landsraad.
