Re: Baron to Earl?
No, we should not.
The title "Baron" has been part of Shirerithian history for at least five years now, and is still the standard in five out of the six Duchies. One would need a good reason to change it, and despite the antics of the Earl of Dolor, so far none has been provided.
I will mention three further points: first, that to me Earl is and will always be an overweight redneck chewing tobacco and saying "Mah name is Earl, buh mah friends cawl me Bubba." Second, that in the real world, the title "earl" is identical to the title of "count", which would only aggravate the confusion and illogic of the modern Shirerithian feudal system. And third, at one point the Duchy of Elwynn was using "earl" to mean "count", and for Goldshire to use the same word for "Baron" would be needlessly confusing.
I am open to changes in Goldshire's feudal system or in its terminology, but "Earl" will not be one of them.

I agree with pretty much everything Yvain said, but saw no reason to go against a unanimous decision of the GK. If Erik wants to be an Earl, so be it.

So you say, but you voted in favor and did so before it was a unanimous decision.

I had reason to believe it would be unanimous. Plus I like the use of the GK.

Yeah.. Honestly. I just felt like being different, for now.
I would suggest not changing unless there's a good reason. Note how I didn't suggest changing all the barons to earls in brookshire, just me.
And now I'm wondering if that was a good idea after reading Yvain's statement.

I thought about the same things as well before I voted on the name change, but you wanted it and I saw no good reason to stand in the way. The titles in Shireroth are pretty out-of-place anyway, with the only exception being Duke, and Marquess in Brookshire.
