Would I be right in thinking that you intended for this system to purely be about the rise and fall of houses as a whole, but you didn't intend great difference between houses except the Major/Minor status? I definitely went with a more rise and fall of people bent myself.

*shrug*.. it doesn't really matter what I intended. Everything took a life of it's own, and everyone had their own vision for what it should be. Scott has decided we should be a demockracy for example. so I'm just gonna let things ride out and not try to use my old plan/model.

We were a democracy of sorts even before this.

DEMOCRACY?! REBELLION! RETURN TO THE PAST! BACK TO THE FUTURE!

OR NOT? :shifty

Apologies for this interference, gentlemen. Proceed. :fish :angel
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki
Can't you see? I'm crazy! :tomcutterhamonfire :smashy

Meritocracy. It just happens that most of our citizens have merit. It doesn't stop it from being a meritocracy, it doesn't imply people have a right to vote by virtue of existing. It doesn't even mean IC we approach anything near a democracy - we're firmly oligarchic, as we always have been. It merely means a number of people OOC have earned the permission to vote if they want to.

Yes, that's all very fine within the system, but we are still a democracy outside of it. The Kaiser rules with the implicit consent of a majority of the people.

And the basis for actual authority in a micronation without the implicit consent of a majority of the people is?

(Sorry, I've been doing political philosophy this semester, and as part of the exam yesterday I wrote an essay on social contract theory. Divine right of kings may work IC but it has no standing OOC, and so a Kaiser not based either on a Hobbesian or Lockeian contract [Locke being the more likely candidate] would be pretty weird. Or maybe Rousseau, we do sometimes look for the general will ...)

Yeah, blah blah blah. The issue is that there are some that seem to view us as both an IC and OOC autocracy.
