The absence of the Kaiser and a Steward

Your Graces, Imperial Nobles of the Republic,

The Kaiser hasn't given our Empire any sign of life for over eight days. At the same time we have no steward to rule in the meantime.

This situation is dangerous. I am sure you all agree with me. I would therefore humbly ask you to elect a steward to rule in the Kaiser's unfortunate absence.

Count Farewell.

While I am still here, and I do humbly apologize for the unexpected absence, I'd like for the Landsraad to go ahead with the election of the Steward. The spot is vacant, after all, which leaves us in a rather unpleasant situation if something truly *were* to happen to me.

And then perhaps a Deputy Steward (just to be extra safe)?

Why doesn't the Steward appoint a Deputy Steward?

While we are at it we should elect a Deputy Allot, for those moments when we really need him. :)

Elect me as Deputy Steward. A useful title I do believe.

Why you ask - a step back - in order to gain two forward.

There is no law allowing us to elect a deputy Steward, nor is there any precedent that I am aware of. If the Steward were to go inactive though, there is nothing preventing us from electing a new one.

Is there any law that prohibits the election of a Deputy Steward?

No, but I think that for such a powerful position legislation would be needed to regulate said position.

pffft.

"The Kaiser or the Steward may appoint a Depty Steward.

In the absence of the Steward, the Deputy Steward shall serve as Steward."

In the style of Loki III.

That will be 200 erb.

Well then, I say appoint me as Deputy Steward. A useful title I do believe.
That is unless the Steward position is now available!

I'll be back in full in a week or two and ready for the position.

I think the issue is rather moot since I'm not AWOL.

Finally, someone speaks sense! And I'm glad it's the Kaiseress who does so actually, a very good sign. :)

The issue of who is to be Steward or Deputy Steward I find humourously preemptive. I've always felt the role of Steward has been a peculiar one, and I think zir appointment should be restricted to a) when the Kaiser(ess) announces a LOA or b) the Landsraad thinks one should be appointed, e.g. after the Kaiser's gone MIA for a week. However, that's just my two cents.

I like to have a Steward all the time. I could lose internet connection at any time, then it's better to have a permanent Steward.
