Araxion
Honourable Dukes of Shireroth,
Araxion, the lands of western river of Elwynn, used to be part of Shireroth. It used to be a castle where Utas dwelt. Utas brought Elwynn (the person) there, and her love for the River (ie Elwynn) began to grow there.
That's the myth anyway. But the thing is we used to have a county called Araxion some time ago. Harald was the count and Civitas Nova was its capital. But when the Atkins reduction plan came, Shireroth was stripped off Araxion, and the land was unclaimed. So the Shirerithian map looks very weird without Araxion. The Kaiser noticed that, too.
A part of the former Araxionian lands have been claimed another nation, but that's no problem. I only ask you to claim the unclaimed lands on Shireroth's behalf, so that oneday the People of Elwynn can go there on pilgrimage, to the fortress where Utas and Elwynn lived.
I have prepared a map for you.
Signed:
Eo Andelarion

I like it and it makes historical and cultural sense to bring this important part of Shireroth back into our political and cultural sphere.

And then I dipped my pen in venom and gave King Jeremy the following response:
We also have an "insane" amount of history and culture. The Nation is, due to the hard work of its highly talented, ultra-creative and dedicated population, thriving again with a high level of activity and making many, many cultural achievements. And you know what, this is only the humble beginning of a new golden age.

We must declare war on all the countries that are against that claim!

This isn't looking good. Rumours are circulating that Shireroth must go through a land reduction process of some kind...
They want us to reduce our land...

I'll rally Toketi for Shireroth, then the rest of Gralus will follow suit, then the MI (which is almost entire Gralus when it comes to military). Shireroth will not have a reduction, says I!

Don't look at me..
I hate the MCS some times... we've been there from the foundations.. we've backed it through EVERYTHING!.. and they constantly threaten to reduce us... Shows what kinda loyalty one can expect from them....
YOU SAW NOTHING HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I'm going to point out I'm rather drunk right now)

Re: Araxion
Don't worry so much. The only person who really wants to reduce us is King Jeremy of New Britannia, and I don't think many people take him seriously. Plus the rumor is that the MCS staff quite justifiably hate him. The MCS kept our land safe all through our period of complete inactivity because we had become sort of a "mascot" - they're not going to take it away now unless we give them some weird justification.
...like threatening to destroy the MCS in a public forum. Honestly, Erik, have you forgotten what Secret Evil Plans is for?
...or applying for more land too much. It's not the best way to keep under the radar. And I doubt it'll pass in the current climate.

Re: Araxion
Well, at the time the MCS had a de facto monopoly on micronational mapping and could by means of hydraulic despotism (utilizing control of a commodity with a single source to hold power over others) impose its will upon the micronational community. It was therefore deemed in Shireroth's interest to co-operate with the MCS by voluntarily surrendering land.hypatias mom wrote:We never should have willingly given away land in the first place.

Yes, we had no choice. Those who didn't cooperate got land removed anyway, prompting the foundations of the GSO.

To hell with the current mapping societies! Let us start anew!
Re: Araxion
Micras is free these days (see the removal of the MCS copyright), if Shireroth wanted we could be on Micras but not the MCS.

Shireroth should remain within the MCS for the sake of maintaining relations with those members on it.
However since the MCS is no longer copyrighted Shireroth can legitimately publish maps which show the correct borders if you follow my meaning.

Re: Araxion
Erik, do you remember why we STOPPED controlling it?
I can assure that all those reasons and many, many more are still in force.
I even took a job with them a few months ago and then gave up because it was too annoying.

I'm just talking about the copyright... Resecuring it... Ryan never actually had the right to it.. we just diidn't have the positioning to stop him.. nor the money...

Re: Araxion
NOW you talk about this?! There were discussions about what to do with the copyright. Sure, I don't think its very likely Ryan would have handed it over to you two, knowing history, but *then* was the time to think about getting the copyright. Now its on some weird commons licence or something.
