True. Istanbul should be capital. Ankara's mind-numbingly dull unless you like Atatürk personality cults anyway...

Honestly... I am quite dissappointed.
Uncyclopedia has no Atatürk article!
And their Turkey article is pathetic.

Re: Capital of Turkey
Ah yes - actually you may be able to help me with this.
In HoI2 there's an event simulating Ataturk's death called "The Great Turk passes away" or something and it always bemused me - can't find any other references to Ataturk as "The Great Turk", I think maybe it might be a translation issue from Swedish intending to mean "Chief of the Turks" or something. But given the high standard of English Paradox maintain, I would find this hard to believe.
I remember questioning Scott about this when he was in Turkey and he couldn't help me, so I think maybe Paradox literally just made up that title.

Re: Capital of Turkey
You're talking to he who wrote the Tannu Tuva and Peruvian strategy for HoI2wiki, and author of the Anatolian Wars Mod!
Yeah, Atatürk means father Turk in Turkish, but a huge amount of HoI2 ministers are faulty... half the photos they use for some of the smaller nations like Sinkiang aren't even of who they're supposed to be...

Definately not. A few of us old timers actually know, but we've been sworn to secrecy.Maksym Hadjimehmetov wrote:I'm gonna make a bit of micronational fame by ending this thread once and for all by saying...Capital of Turkey

It makes me quite sad to be one of the old-timers who does *not* know the answer, by the way
