Erik thinks he's still Marquess.

Oh, well with the suspension of the Charter of Brookshire, it's a pretty empty title, really...
I might have to look through past edicts, though. I don't know if you said anything to the contrary.

So... the Kaiseress is in fact a vassal of the Duke of Brookshire, while the Duke is a vassal of the Kaiseress...
Remind me a bit of the English king who was a vassal, as duke of Aquitania, of the French king.

The King of Sweden was once a vassal under the Holy Roman Emperor.
I was a vassal before as well, as Baroness of Lakhesis. That happens to all Kaiser/esses that don't hold a duchy, unless they are completely subdivision-less.

Yes. You could have it multi-leveled. Kaiser is at the same time Baron and Count, but in another Barony, preferably in another Duchy. :P

Assassinating the Kaiseress isn't acceptable right?
Hmm... Plan B it is! [I'll tell you what it is when I know myself

Assasinating the Kaiseress is *always* an option.

Hmm...
Three Kaisers have been "assassinated" since I've been in Shireroth. At least, they were killed by random crazies...

You proclaimed her Marchioness of Goldshire. I'm Marquess, thus I retain my title...

Erik,
Marchioness
is the female form of the title Marquess in the British usage... which would appear to the one being utilised here.
To quote Sir Alan/Donald Trump at the end of one of their interminable shows.
"You're fired."
Or are you....

English Kings have also been vassals of the French King in their capacity of Dukes of Normandy.

And (technically) Holy Roman Emperors of the French King. Everybody was a vassal of everybody in those days, eh?

Leo,
As far as assassinating this particular Kaiseress, to paraphrase the Alternate Spock:
"I suggest you remember that my operatives would avenge her death, and some of them... are Cyberians."

The fuzzy sheepmaster? I rate your evil as a .035 on the Babkha scale.
But,
There are some things that you don't want to know. Be glad you have come into a world of (relative) happiness, free of such.
