Well you see the only reason I ask in the first place is because we are lacking in land. Which is why I am willing to offer other forms of compensation. Land for land seems kinda counter-productive.

You can't say that you lack land. Distribute it better is my suggestion. The county borders are not set in stone, you know.

Yes, I am. But there is a big difference between internal reorganisation and moving an entire barony to another duchy. I would say divide your counties better before you start moving baronies.
