Kildarian Hymn

Post by Jonas »

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I present you the hymn of Blackrock! It is taken from the CoD 2 game and maybe historical correct.
We could make this our Kildarian hymn.

One of my favourite songs from the CoD series. :)

I imagine this is from Chrono Trigger or something... does anyone know the original source?
Vilhelm von Benkern - The Dolphin-...Count
:: Formerly just "benkern"
:: Rook Sentry of the Order of the Vorpal Blade
:: Count of Mar Sara IIRC
:: Former Baron of Absentia AFAIK, before that Baron of Vorpmadal TBH; also Former Duke of Yardistan IMHO
:: Dux Emeritus of the Order of Mischievous Intent

It takes moo to mango!

I don't recall its origin either, but I also like it for our duchy.

plz2lrn2read metadata: The song is The Minstrel Boy. No relation to Nobuo Uematsu here. This particular file was sequenced by Barry Taylor, so it probably came from http://www.contemplator.com/tunebook/

I woindered where I had heard it. The male Irish group Celtic Thunder sings it in one of its PBS performances, and I've heard it on a couple of other celtic shows and CDs. It is very powerful sung in character, with a deep Irish accent.

I like Celtic Thunder, though there's not much Thunder involved... ;)

The minstrel boy to the war is gone,
In the ranks of death you'll find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" cried the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy right shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"
The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and brav'ry!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!
Maybe we can write a bit more Kildarian version of the lyrics?

Is that civil war still going on??

Perhaps one day when this war is gone,
From the Duchy of Kildare
The Duke will greet the day's new dawn
And the Baron won't be sorry.
"Land of Tzi!" cried the linguist bard,
And speaking high and muffled,
He spoke Kildar'an; it was hard
So he was very troubled.
The pact fell through! Cuz the peace-makings
Could not bring the Duke to give in
His word, he knew, was like to a King's:
To it one must always listen,
He said "No spell or magic tree,
Shall let you take what's mine from me,
Kildare's here for the pure and the free,
And after all, I'm Duke, you see."

If not, darn, I'll have to write something else ( :tomcutterhamonfire ), but it was the main thing I knew about Kildare right now. :document
