This is House Kalir. House Kildare is down lower on the board, under "autonomous houses". Although Kalir and Kildare have been talking about an alliance, we haven't formalized anything yet and if you want to join them you'll have to talk to them separately.

I'm already governor of Hyperborea. If you wanted to be in the county under me, we might be able to work something out, but this isn't the normal way we do things - normally you would either apply for a county of your own or choose to go countyless. In any case, it's in Kalir and not Kildare.

I thank you for the earlier offer but I have no intention of creating a house and will greatly enjoy watching Scott and CJ trying to coexist in a useful fashion considering how diametrically opposed the two of them are on almost every conceivable issue.

Defiantly agree. That should be the best (possibly only) part of CJ having citizenship here.

But Hyperborea is more than just another subdivision in a country teeming with subdivisions. It is an ideal, a way of life, a striving for the good that is as harsh and as demanding as the north wind. It's not a place you pick at random, it's a place you pick because you're drawn to it, because the sweat and clamor of the southlands have become odious to you and you're searching for something cold and clear.

You don't become a Hyperborean by me telling you you're a Hyperborean. You don't become a Hyperborean by the Kaiser declaring you a Hyperborean. You become a Hyperborean by scouring yourself the way a blizzard scours the Cold Waste, until your mind becomes as sharp as an icicle and your heart as light and limpid as a snowflake caught on a sunbeam.

If you're willing to become a Hyperborean in that sense, the real sense, I'll go to Tala and tell the Council and the Oracles to make you a Hyperborean on paper.

And this isn't just a chance for you to show your commitment by agreeing immediately. No one, least of all me, will be disappointed in you if you choose to turn away. Eluin has many lands in it, more than anywhere else in the world, and it's no shame if you don't want the coldest and the most remote.
