Protest concerning our House Flag....

You removed it and replaced it with a shield we never approved. So, I protest. As a House we should get our own say in what is used to represent us. To this point we have used the traditional Flag of Brookshire as the flag of our house, to maintain that link to our past. Now you've just changed it without asking. I admit I saw the shield in General, but I never gave ascent for it's use.

However, keep in mind that if I do bring back Duchies in some form, you're going to want to have something different for Mortis and Brookshire.

Is there no difference between Major and Minor Houses anymore? Since the Minor Houses have top level forums like the Major ones.

There's still a difference. I just thought with only five houses there was no reason to lock some of them behind a subforum.

They are just minor houses. It's a status thing.

Also, I don't want Brookshire back as a Duchy. It's gone. To recreate it would weaken House Mortis, and just confuse people. We will continue to use the Brookshire flag, for that Duchy is long gone. Shall it rest in peace. House Mortis is here now.

Scott, be careful. You are about to make a mess, both politically, socially.. and what have you. I warned you to move slowly, and not to try anything drastic in this reign. You are making it sound quite a lot like you are about to invalidate houses and revert us to some broken hybrid system.

Oh, big deal if he did revert the duchies. "House Mortis" is a fancy name for Brookshire, Kalir is a thinly veiled coverup of Elywnn, Kildare didn't even bother changing their name, and Annexis is still the remains of Yardistan. Even Straylight is back with Ari and ICEBREAKER under Tessier-Ashpool. There are your five historic dutchies and you can put that in your pipe and smoke it. Other than low single-digit people residing in a different duchy than before (actually I can only think of myself and I've been sort of floating so do I even count?) the borders are exactly how they have been for years. And nobody is really showing signs of moving. So what's the big defense of the house system for anyway? It's the same damn system as before.

I am disappointed that you don't like the coat of arms. I feel like coats are more appropriate to Houses and flags are more appropriate to provinces and duchies. I also feel like keeping the flags causes exactly the problem Harvey mentioned - that they make people think Mortis is just Brookshire Lite. The shields were supposed to help differentiate (not to mention removing that big DUCHY OF ELWYNN banner).

I understand that a lot of the anger over the shield might have been because of me putting it in without asking you directly, so I'll wait a while to see if you change your mind later.

If I left House Mortis, I could take Monty Crisco with me. I can be made a noble without having to be "Duke of such-and-such", Right now we have House based on old Duchies, that doesn't have to be the case. Corey resided in a county that WAS Elwyn/Goldshire but is in House Kildare. Shyriath has an old Sanct, but is Mortis. If you had land, you could take it with you.

The different are there. Given more time they will increase in how pronounced they are. Duchies had no options. Even if the options are fully utilized yet, I rather have them.

I just wanted a choice in the matter. But I wouldn't mind a shield for House Mortis, but if it's desired that it be displayed on the forum, I want one with a bit less cartoon feel. and less pixilated.
