Our Role in the Small Commonwealth.
It was recently brought up in Nelaga the idea of disbanding the SC or removing the SCUE from it. I'm curious as to how we stand on that issue. The SCUE still has much room to grow, but I'm wondering about the efficacy of the Small Commonwealth as an organization. I still feel the design is sound and the structure interesting, but I'm wondering if the interest for such an organization is there. I think this may be the fate of all/most such organizations. No one really wants to work together, especially without a stated goal.
The SCUE on the other hand I think might gain much from be independent should the SC fold. Many won't join due to the SC itself. The reasons are silly, in my view, but there it is.

Re: Our Role in the Small Commonwealth.
Sometime soon Scott and I will be running another survey of the micronational community, like Scott and Liam did last year. It's 80% written up, just needs a few more questions done and double checking we don't have stupid errors like last year's questions had. On that I intend to include a question asking people what they think of the Small Commonwealth. That may help future considerations, when we get that data in.

I liked that survey. While that would give an overview of the community as a whole, I'm still interested in Shireroth's view as a nation. Should we pull out, support, retreat or disband unit... wait...

Let's disband it and replace it with a Organization for a Common Economic Area for the Nations (OCEAN) :-P Just working with the economy and that which really matters.

We could just let the bank stand on its own. And not create any sort of real organizations. Like the early days of the MCS.

Isn't that just going to lead to the same issues with have with it being in the SC. If it has an organization it has to be really and obviously the bare minimum.

Ah well, yeah, you have a point. But how do we make sure the bank is independent?

If we ditched the SC and kept the SCUE, we would want as minimal organisation as is necessary - essentially just a means of choosing a bank administrator, and agreed ways of distributing currency. And hopefully an agreement not to impose tariffs or stuff, because that defeats the purpose.

LOL.
Anyway, we could invite the participatory nations of the SCUE for a conference. And Shireroth could leave all other treaties of the Commonwealth.

We'd also need to get the SC to let it go formally.

Re: Our Role in the Small Commonwealth.
I would be very keen to have any successor to the SCUE that's separate to the SC on the {un-named forums. I've been intending to post stuff in the Economics forum there but I'm really busy with essays at the moment. Shouldn't really be posting this, even ...

Re: Our Role in the Small Commonwealth.
As I said in Nelaga, I feel that the SCUE is the one thing that has worked in the SC. The problem with the Small Commonwealth is perhaps that it is too small. When Ari wrote his original conception of an organization that did not infringe upon the rights of its members, its sounded like a great idea, but it is my belief that history has shown us that only things that actually cause controversy have any chance of surviving. Keep in mind that the vast majority of the SC's activity was on two topics: 1) should X nation join the SC and 2) what's the point of the SC at all? That's pretty darn meta.
In any event, yes, I believe the bank should be made separate with only a bank administrator or two in charge of adding new nations and resetting passwords and the like. I'd fully support Erik and Andreas in these positions.

Re: Our Role in the Small Commonwealth.
Administrators should do only that.. administrate. No decision making. If something must be decided do it by consensus. If it stirs controversy then it obviously is to much. The organizations should be regulation free. It's not that we want free trade, it that we want a common currency and banking system.
The MCS/New Forum people are already cool with us setting up there.

I'm gonna put a resolution before the SC to let the SCUE go soon. Do those that said they would still wish write something formal up. Otherwise I'm just gonna put it forth.
