Murdered?

Erik,

Also, I think Scott said somewhere that he didn't want to be kaiser... That was when Kalir discussed your successor, if it were Kalir's lot to decide him or her. We reached an agreement that it would be Malliki, on Scott's advice.

On your own account, you discussed with Malliki the formation of a grand house, just so that house could become bigger and select a kaiser from its house. You discussed with the members of the house who the next successor should be, and it came to be Malliki. Moving on, you discussed possible future ideas for the empire with him, keeping others in the dark, so as to prepare him for succession.

From this point of view, it would seem to me honourable to keep Malliki your heir.

If he wasn't rebelling, I probably would.

I think part of his rebelling is you not having him as your heir :-p

It was gonna pass to him. As you said, we did the house merger thing and all.

You didn't even talk to me! You just sent me some obscure PM a week again and when I didn't reply to it directly you rebel.

A week ago, yes.

But seriously, something has to be done and you haven't convinced me that you are the person to do it.

Perhaps the two of you could work together instead of bickering?

1. Make Malliki your heir.
2. Work together in the nation's best interest

Yes?

Argh.

Your Majesty,

We need drastic measures to combat the slump. The nation is looking up for your guidance here.

Yeah. It doesn't work like that. You can't just threaten the people in charge to "fix the slump" and then get all mad when they can't. Rebellion in the name of activity is fun and all, but after the dust settles it would just be the same slump with a few more people that didn't want to talk to eachother. A country saturated with grudges gains a few more.

Come on guys, you know how this game goes. We've been playing it for like a decade. Stop being silly.

Thank you for the honor, but I'm afraid I must decline on basis of lack of time and energy.

I suggest the two of you strike some deal where Erik makes Malliki Steward, stays around for at most another week or two, and then abdicates (as he's nearing the end of his three month term anyway by that point). Malliki, whatever ideas you have you can start them as Steward, and Erik, whatever ideas you have you can start in the next few weeks and then keep pursuing under a Malliki Kaisership.

Harvey, the problem here was that we had a Kaiser that did nothing to fight the slump. Step one has to always be to lead by example. Can Erik fix the slump? No, but he can lessen its effects.

It takes an entire country to get it out of a slump...so bitching about us being in a slump...is not going to fix said slump. We need to work together to come up with ideas and his majesty needs to be willing to listen...that is how it works.

I agree with Harvey - but on the other hand (and I say this not just to criticize others, but partly because I've seen it in myself) this attitude of "I have great ideas to fix the country, but I won't tell you them unless you make me Kaiser" has got to go. If you have great ideas, start them even when you're not Kaiser, and then become Kaiser later because everyone wants the guy whose ideas have worked in the past in charge.

(this might be different if you thought you needed an ace in the hole to bargain for the Kaisership, but we all want you to have it and you're going to get it, so you might as well start saving the country now)

I do have some ideas, yes. The problem here was that Erik and I discussed things, at length, and as I understood it there would be things done. Instead, nothing happened. Hence my actions. Do I think that my ideas will save the country? No, not really, but neither will sitting around doing nothing.

Why not actually try and resolve this with a fair and credible Civil War?
I'm not talking about the usual half-hearted affairs on these fora, I'm talking about a proper Civil War with diagrams, maps, the Anunia Convention and impartial observers from abroad. It could also be represented on the MCS as being two seperate nations in conflict, thereby employing yet another lamentably underused set of map symbols.

To kill two birds with one stone you could of course also have the two claimants to the Shirereithan government flying the old and new flags. Whoever wins gets their flag of choice to be Shireroth's official design, with no questions asked. That'd send the bullets flying for sure.

Then you can fight it out whilst I hastily declare an independent Laqi Republic in the South. Good times.
