This is a thread to list all the stuff in Shirekeep. I start off with the basics:
[*] Raynor's Keep (Kaiser's residence)
[*] The Triple Towers (Imperial Advisory Council, the barrack of the Kampioens, home of the Imperial Arbiter)
[*] Temple of Mors
[*] The Museum of the Fine Arts
[*] The Landsraad
[*] Raynor Village
[*] The Cedrist Temple
[*] SARTRE, the Shirekeep Area Rapid Transit Railway Express
[*] John Metzler III University
[*] The Temple of the Quintessences
[*] Hyperborean Temples of Truth and Beauty
[*] The Multi-Temple
[*] The Statue of Malarborty

Mattlore Devious lies outside the city proper, as well as some other stuff as well.

I just saw Max say he's making that Shirekeep city map after all. If you've seen the Ashkenatzi version you know that a big chunk of the work is thinking up culturally appropriate buildings. So I'm going to start suggesting less important structures to here that Max can use if he wants them and everyone else needs to help.

* Small Commonwealth Hall (old SC HQ before the move to Tymaria)
* Temples of major Cedrist gods - at the very least Mors, Vivantia, Hgraa, Lumina, Agni, Alejia, Loki, Ikol, Ifni, Los.
* Ministries
--- Interior
--- Exterior
--- Information
--- Immigration/Naturalization
--- Military Affairs
--- Trade
--- Old Ministries, Departments, etc.
------- Big Brother Census Department
------- Department of Research and Education
------- Ministry of Cartography
------- Diplo Corps
------- Employment Office
* Other imperial institutions
--- Imperial Judex
--- Imperial Advisory Council
* Named real businesses from South End
--- Lamifo Corporation
--- Imperator Associations
--- Shirerithian Mercantile Exchange
--- Andreas' Shop
--- Church of the Machine God
--- Jotunn Heavy Industries
--- Microton Naval War Machine
--- The Best Defense
* Other relevant businesses/fictional businesses
--- ISI HQ
--- Apollo Aurora branch office
--- Amara Pharmaceuticals
--- Darjainen Heraldry
* Shrine of Controversy
* Inside Jokes
--- Joao's Portuguese Restaurant
--- Archbishop Mitty Cathedral
--- Palace of the Lizzard King
--- Hodie Acres Embassy
* Subdivision-Specific Organizations
--- Lodge of Mischievous Intent
--- Vankarha Sui Mek
* On the River
--- IRS Salamandro (frigate, now a museum)
* Statues
--- Nicholas Raglan, in front of the Landsraad Front Gate
--- Delphi Augustus, in the Audente Quarter
--- Solid gold statue of Tony Au somewhere
* Street Names
--- Heretics' Way (contains the Multi-Temple)
--- Some streets can be named after important dates eg 13th Agnifiero Street, 4th Qarbinionsmoon Avenue

EDIT 9/12/09: Added 2 more Inside Jokes.

Cheers, Scott- I'll be doing it in a Paint.NET layered file so you can snazz it up if you want.
If anyone has any ideas for layouts of streets (I know the general layout thanks to the old map on ShireWiki of the city's districts), such as boulevards, squares, and perhaps even what kind of style certain buildings are (you can infer a lot about a building's architecture on my style of maps simply from the bird's eye view), that'd be incredibly helpful.

This will take a very long time as since I'm not technically a citizen here anymore, Ashkenatza will come first micronationally of course- but I'll take this slow and hopefully even if I do it at a very leisurely pace little but often it'll all be ready by the meetup next summer.

It's a fuckload of work, if you pardon my Swahili, so I assume I won't be going thirsty come the micronational meetup? :document

EDIT:

More inside jokes would make this map less tedious for me to make- hopefully I can learn some Shirereithan culture in the process. I'll also put in some tombs of former Kaisers and maybe a large Synagogue and Jewish Cultural Centre courtesy of the paranoid militaristic lunatics across the Elwynn River! :evil

Inside jokes are great. If you look at the Kolmenitzkiy Map carefully you'll see:

- Jewlett-Pachadard Printing
- Lev Wonkenstein's Incredible Kosher Shokoladenfabrik
- A.Q Cohen Centrifuge Laboratories
- Jewish Mothers' Training Institute
- Derelict Sausage Roll Factory
- 'Goy Pachad' Street
- Kosha-Kola Company

:thumbsup

How is this going? Maksym, are you still working on it?

The Raynor Mausoleum ( http://shireroth.org/shirewiki/Imperial_Decree_436 ) should be added to the list of buildings in or near Shirekeep.

I want to propose the following: we redraw the map of Shirekeep (I wouldn't mind doing it) and we ask Fides to do some 3D work for the most important buildings. It will not be as detailed as the one Maksym made for the Ashkenatzim capital, but I would at least want to have a decent, more updated and a bit more detailed map (the old map dates back from almost 2000 ASC years ago!) of our capital.
If the Kaiser agrees, I will ask Fide to draw buildings like Raynor's Keep, which will cost some money... so financial support of the Imperial Government would be necessary. :document

You have the support of the government. Just make sure the Keep is at the absolute tip of the peninsula. It was supposed to be built at the actual fork in the river and the city built up around it.

So... on the place where the old map tells us that the Malarbor Statue is? :document

The one who drew that map was probably quite drunk at the time he worked at it... :fish

Hmmm. Jonas... Perhaps I could vectorize the map once you've done it?

That would be a great idea. Do I need to know something about vectorizing, to make it more easy for you (I'm going to work with several layers, for example)?

Unless I can find an easier way to do it, what's involved is basically tracing over what's already done. The layers would have to be manually recreated in that case.

Still, maybe it'd be possible to import. What program/format will you be working in?
