A day of mourning

Post by Daniel Farewell »

In sadness, I greet you all. The Kaiser is dead. Let us mourn.

The Charter provides:
Section C: Heir to the Throne.
a. Before the end of zir reign, the Kaiser must pick a successor from among all living individuals eligible by birthright.
b. Should the Kaiser die or abdicate the throne, the Kaisership shall pass to zir successor.
c. Should no heir have been chosen, the successor shall be the closest related living individual eligible by birthright.
Whereas none living individual has been chosen to succeed Mors the Sixth, the next in line is the closest relative. Let us find our kaiser!

So... following this system the next line would be... :fish
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

I don't know. But someone from Mortis House.

It is my firm belief that the provisions in the Decreebook are inconsistent with the provisions of the Charter. So we need to follow the Charter first and foremost.

Perhaps, perhaps in a manner of speaking. Are we all not brothers and sisters, and thus kin each to the other?

May Semisa guide Kaiser Mors VI to a happy rebirth, and may Ikol, God of Tranquility, grant us an orderly succession.

I propose that Mors VI be called "the Brave", for daring to do away with the Duchy system and invent a replacement. It may or may not work in the end, but it sure took guts.

I would echo the call for that epithet. History shall remember Mors VI as an innovator who dared to make Shireroth more than what it has been.
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Yea, he died as he lived, taking chances and staring Death in the face.

And it's catchier than "Mors VI the either brave or totally insane, we haven't quite figured out which yet"

Of course it can. :)

Thanks Ric for that point, I hadn't even thought about it until now. I think you should be Arbiter. ;)

Who's this kaiseress running around like she's in charge? And what thread did he leave in? And why are the duchies and baronies still not yet restored?!?

Same person as Anandja I then. I can't really be bothered to check what thread. It has a proper title at least. I don't think it's a bad choice. Just because you want everything to never change, doesn't mean that that is a good choice either.

Yeah, I know who you are, and I found the thread. As for not wanting things to change, I just don't want them to change because I liked the way things were. That's not a bad thing.

No, but change isn't automatically a bad thing either. I liked the old system too, but this one has its merits too. We are going to evaluate the system and change it where necessary. The Houses will perhaps also get those core counties that were discussed before.

How would that work exactly? Counties that are forced to stay allied?

Not exactly. The idea is that each Major House gets a group of continuous counties that they can never lose (barring some extreme events). The house can then use the counties however they see fit, like granting them to new members, or whatever. The rest of our counties are given to and taken from the houses based on activity, number of members, etc.

Yeah, I've never bothered to remove that provisions because no one has ever payed attention to it. Only took 7 years for someone to comment on it.

If you went by a strict interpretation, it would give the throne to my yet, unborn, children or my parents.
