So it has come to pass, that any person who feels that they might stand to gain a better understanding of the principles and the practice of RecWar, as carried on in our degenerate modern age, may elect to enrol themselves on this RecWars 101 (what is it with you Americans calling academic courses which pretend to be comprehensive with regard to their subject a "101"?) Course.

The "Syllabus" will be an introduction to the subject covering force purchasing, the two principle rule sets and some speculative scenarios to illustrate tactics and the like.

Course commences Wednesday 20th of May 2009. You have until then to register.

I'm actually Canadian - I don't know where those silly Yanks got it from, but we stole it. We're like America's younger brother, but without the nasty reputation :) (Canada = America Lite)

Anyway, I'm in!

You're also a former British Dominion... and a lawful evolution of British North America, so it is less the case the Canada is America's younger brother, more the other way round with America being the errant tearaway who had a troubled youth and seems to have taken to breaking things lately.

Technically, we're still a British Dominion. The Queen is technically still "Queen of Canada" (it says so on the letterhead). It's like Canada's grown up and moved out of the house but still sends postcards (via Michaelle Jean)

I've gotta object when someone says something like this. Delete the "British" in front of the Dominion and you're right. "Dominion of Canada". However, Canada is not British in any way, shape or form. The Queen is separately Queen of Canada, like she is separately Queen of Australia, Queen of Barbados and all the other Commonwealth realms. That doesn't make Canada British, and not Australian either. She is also not "technically" Queen of Canada. She is just as much Queen of Canada as she is Queen of the UK, she only doesn't live in Canada. :) I could concede that she is de jure head of state, and the de facto head of state is Michaëlle Jean. This will all likely change when Prince Charles ascends the throne. He isn't exactly as popular as Queen Elisabeth is.

One funny quirk is that with Canada's federal system, the provinces can sue the federal government if they feel the constitution has been violated for example. The formal way to write that would be, if for example Manitoba sued the federal government, like this:
"The Queen in Right of Manitoba v. The Queen in Right of Canada". That is, actually, the same physical person.

Sir, am I too late to join, seeing as I missed the due date because I was not yet a citizen?

I have a keen interest in RecWarring and think it is a very interesting topic.

Many Thanks Anyway,

I have always seen Prince Charles as someone who has the brains to 'rule' the nations of which he will become King. Maybe that makes him unpopular (and the Diane case...), politicians don't like an intelligent head of state. It's a man with his hearth on the right place. :document
