University of Directus Partnership

The Government of Ocia has always maintained its open desire to build a cooperation with Shireroth on many fields, and recently when I saw that Shireroth, like Ocia, is one of the few micronations that maintain a functioning education institution I saw it as a venue for further cooperation.

Currently the University of Directus Offers three Courses:

Reservist Officer Training Course (Military Academy)
Architecture
Slovene (currently on lesson I http://ociagov.proboards.com/index.cgi? ... 234&page=1 )

and will be offering

Russian
German
English Literature Studies
Partisan Military tactics

If we could work out some sort of cooperation with joint teaching ventures, some joint campus programs, and the recognition of the honorary degrees graduates of these courses get I think it would be highly beneficial for both of us. Thoughts?

An excellent proposition. Since it seems like we'll be talking quite a bit in the future - Hi. I'm Allot. Minister of Information, and some other stuff.

We're still in the midst of reviving the University, once my teachers get off their tuchuses *kicks Ardy* and start teaching.

But that all sounds very nice. Maybe we can go into specifics once we actually start teaching something.

If I may propose that you write up some fancy contract/treaty/agreement that standardizes the diplomas that are granted at both universities (and ensures that the diplomas will be recognizes in said micronations) and both sign that may be a good start. From there you can do pretty much anything.

Get to work Allot :whip

Well, the diplomas could be recognized at both universities, but that's not much use, is it? It's the countries and all their institutions that need to recognize them. So a contract would have to go through both our governments, not just the University.

Well I considered that but I thought that seeing as the university is really the only establishment that manages all forms of knowledge/education that that may not be necessary. However I am sure I could whip up the necessary authorities to sign the bill should you feel it is necessary.

necessary.... (that makes 4)

Perhaps in Shireroth, but I've never been to Ocia.

*AHEM*

*steps in as Chancellor of the University*

Mr. Kovac! It's good to see you!

Having read your proposal, I believe it is a plan worth pursuing. It may be pertinent to create an international standard for higher education, something unofficial, but generally accepted as the norm. I will probably stop by the University of Directus to examine your facilities, at which point I will consider the validity of Ocian credits and degrees at Shirithian universities (I don't except to deny them).

Please understand that the Sir John Metzler III University only recently returned to activity, and our course list is, sadly, lacking. I'm glad you could offer us this opportunity, and I will do my best to see it through on the Shirithian side of the deal.

Chancellor of Shirithian Post-Secondary Education
