Winter 1904 - SERBIA RULES FUCKER

Post by Ari Rahikkala »

Well, I suppose one should have seen it coming. Turkey backstabs Austria hard, taking the undefended Trieste and Serbia in one swoop. The attack into Rumania fails due to Austria's concentrated defense, though. It would have failed even if its support from Sevastopol hadn't been cut off by Russia's attack (which in turn failed to do more than cut off the attacking support due to Turkey's defensive reinforcements from Armenia). Little of interest happens in southwest Europe aside Austria succesfully defending its conquest in Venice: Italy brings its fleet back from the Gulf of Lyon and hangs out bringing back civil order in Spain, and that's pretty much it.

Northward, England continues conquering previous French areas by taking Brest. The invading army in Picardy is replaced with the one in Belgium (though the arrow representing that is so small you can barely see it on the map). At the same time, England seems to be out for blood for Russia's taking of Norway, and with the knowledge that Germany has gone into civil unrest, feels safe in moving a fleet out of Kiel into the Baltic. Holland's fleet comes in as replacement to finish the conquest of the supply center.

The only retreat of the turn was France's army in Brest, which was automatically disbanded due to civil unrest, so there are no retreat orders to be submitted.

Austria loses Trieste and Serbia, and hence must disband two units.
England gains Kiel and Brest, and hence can build two units.
Germany loses Kiel and must disband one unit. According to the civil unrest rules it'll be the army in Burgandy.
France loses Brest and Spain, and has already autodisbanded the units in them.
Italy gains Spain and hence can build one unit.
Turkey gains Trieste and Serbia, and hence can build two units.

Build orders are due Thu Dec 29 12:00:00 UTC 2009, aka two days from now.
No-one should be without a parasol, Sirocco.

Perhaps - but the England v Turkey final for the championship should be a game worth watching.

Yeah, but the problem is that it wouldn't get interesting until some time in April. :(

Have all the whipped factions declare which side they would plump for when they fall into civil disorder maybe?

You're being a bit premature, Ardy. Russia has a good reason to be afraid of a big Turkey. If the two of you allied, you'd have a pretty good opportunity to make back what you lost.

That said, I'd be happy to accept a joint win with the Mayer brothers if it came to that.

This being Nicholas saying this:

So who is left in the game now? Turkey, Italy and England? That would probably be interesting, but unless we sped up the turns a bit would take ages.
Are we continuing then guys?

If the two of them (Scott + Andreas/Nicholas) want to call it a game then I'll accept that and fold.

I don't mind either way. If Scott wants to keep fighting, I'm up for that, but if not then ending it now is fine.
