Lake Nemb

Post by Daniel Farewell »

This is how I envision Lake Nemb (Nwem) to be in dusk or dawn. Nemb is the most serene of the lakes, the most tranquil. Hurmudans go here for reflexion, to seek peace.

The name of the Lake, Nemb, stems from the old Hurmumol word "nwem", meaning night.

It is... :)

Glad you like it.

This picture's from the Baikal if I remember correctly... I once planned with a friend to take a cruise to Helsinki, and from there the train to Vladivostok with stops along the Transsiberian trail. Baikal was supposed to be one of those stops.

I'll tell more of the other five lakes in the coming days.

I used to work with a woman who had been hairdresser for the Soviet Premier's. She used to get these nice vacations to Irkutsk, on Baikal, courtesy of the Soviet gov, and showed us pictures of the place, as well as describing it in great detail. Ever since I've wanted to see it in person.

It remains the largest source of open fresh water (not ice) in the world, and one of the last unpolluted ones. Calling it simply beautiful only touches on the edge of the reality; it is far beyond that.

Certainly a fitting choice for Hurmu. :)

Hurmudans go here for reflexion, to seek peace.
Tourists wouldn't do much good. It's a quiet place, far away from everything. Let's keep it like that.

I expected that answer. And it satisfies me that the Hurmudans respect their nature so much (you should visit Kildare, they have vast national parks).
