Our good friend

We all like Gaius Vesennas. We all like Jonas. But are they one in the same? During Jonas' holiday, he didn't post at all, and they've just had a little discussion (you know - one posts then the other posts directly afterward) in Kildare, sort of like what I'd do if I had a papel and I didn't know there were weirdos like me looking out for this sort of thing. I mean, they're both Dutch and friends from Batavia, so that could account for the fact that they're online at the same times and both have the same Dutch-English accents and mannerisms. Then again - did Jonas ever get any Batavians to visit before this guy?

Could their IPs be checked? If they're both Dutch and separate, cool, I'll just obsess privately a la Danny Glover in Saw, if Jonas' is Dutch and the other is a proxy in Australia, we can do that together.

(Sorry - but after I got Scott right I've been looking out for this with more than my usual level of diligence and suspicion)

I checked and whois'd them. Gaius is using a cable connection in Amsterdam NL, Jonas DSL somewhere in Belgium. Soo... unlikely. But it was a good question anyway :)

But have you ever suspected that I'm actually Ari?

No, though... hmm... it would be a very good papel. Because you're quite different. Only a very smart person who has nothing better to do and a lot of time on their hands could do that - and in ancient history, I don't think you and Ari were the same person. Maybe now though.

Who came up with that idea that certain people met up and switched personalities? I can't even remember who it was, perhaps it was Tahmaseb. Anyway he joked that he met up with a micronationalist - Iain maybe - and they exchanged all their passwords and secrets, went back to each other's homes and started posing as one another, and have continued to do to this day. Anyway, I reckon you and Ari could have done that, or maybe one of you were liek "Dude I'm out, why don't you take over as Erik/Ari?" and the other person was like "lolkay". However, it would have to be a really clever really careful person who did that, but also someone who can be bothered, and while you two are that, I don't think you could be bothered. Due to the fact that that would be an essentially fruitless exercise, in the end. :p

But fruitless exercises are fun.

No.. You speak the truth.

But what you've got to remember is the Effort put in:Visible results ratio, cause that's what sets certain fruitless exercises from others. Look, a nice forum. Ooh, 160 ppd. Wow, literally hundreds of pages of stories and tales of Shireroth. Good things to keep you distracted from the fact that this is all a waste of time. :p

Last I checked, objects in the universe didn't come with little tags marking them as worth or not worth striving for...

They don't. And yet we have the perception all the same.

What is (worth doing) and what is not (worth doing)? It depends on whether a person believes it to be (worth doing). Which probably means it isn't (worth doing), but if everything isn't (worth doing), everything is (worth doing), because being (worth doing) is relative.

We are all Ari. We are all Erik. We are all Scott.
Now we sing Kumbaya and eat marshmallows.

Keep up the good suspicion. Jonas is a Dutch-speaking Belgian, and a really good guy.

No wonder he wanted T'Kunzi. :) Good to have him back.

That was a wild accusation based on a few things I picked up on. In any case nick reminds me of what I'd be like if I were an experienced mnalist pretending to be a newbie. If that's what he is - I forget. Could IPs be used to verify my theory?

IPs can be dodged. Could be his brother, school chum, etc.

I once briefed a friend on what was going on in an MN. He wanted to play, but knew so much that he was accused of being me, which went on for some time because he lived in the same town.

They can be dodged... but sometimes people are lazy.

It's too bad I'm not admin anymore. Now I can't check IPs...

...or can I? :evil

EDIT: No, I can't... :(

Considering Max's consistently posted from British IPs and Nick from American ones, yeah, it *is* a pretty wild one :p
