During one of my struggles with Hasan, Antican envoys came wanting me to trade Melangia to them in exchange for their assistance in gaining the Throne.

I politely refused.

We have made our interest in the territory public. I believed that they want to use this as a chip to trade us out of Melangia.

Instead, I believe we should claim a piece of vacant coast adjacent to their border.

Antica is formerly Shirerothian, so I think we can get away with that.

I also feel that this is 2nd degree pressure attempting to push us into the BASh treaty the Babkhans are promoting.

I don't want to start a war over this, or look like big bad Shireroth in the MCS.

Antica is, in my eyes, worthy of holding that territory, and I don't think we should contest their claim. The possible "bargaining chip" issue is completely moot; even if they happen to plan to use that territory as one, I think we pretty much all agree that we're much more fond of Melangia. It's where the Atterock was held after all .

As for BASh (a Babkha-Antica-Shireroth treaty being negotiated at http://www.nafticon.org/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=22), I think that's a separate issue. We'll see the terms they're offering later, and if they ask for our land, we'll just back out.

In the meantime, I think we do nothing in MCS until the Landsraad acts on Ari's request to regularize our actions there.
