[Stormark SCUE] Explanations

Post by Prince Ísur-Ai »

The Emperor has authorized me to answer these questions, as it was a fraction of Hurmu's Senate who first began discussing the idea. I will therefore come here with the conclusions reached between me (Senator Isammadur), Senator Vembriusonur and Emperor Harald.
1. How many active citizens (who are not already participating in the Small Commonwealth United Economy - eg yourself, Andelarion, Corey etc ...) does Stormark have who would now be joining the SCUE? Ie how many new citizens would be added in your starting allocation of funds?
Stormark regularly analyses the citizen base of the Empire. Currently, counting the autonomous countries of Treisenberg and Hurmu, Stormark has 19 citizens. Here is a list:
Ætfrit Gótjansdattir
Aldin Isammaður [andelarion]
Aoife the Celt
Astrid of Valois
Carl Magnus Bernadotte
Dagfinn Thorvaldsson
Emperor Harald [Harald of Froyalan]
Empress Sigrid
Galinn Karisson
Gudrun Eriksdottir
Ionel Constantinescu [Liam conToketi]
Karli the Varangian
Leikari Vembriusonur [Iskander Mirkdale], [natSirIain]
Polten of Yperpen
Prince Bjarngeir
Princess Unna
Ragnar Brunketillsson
Sigrdrífa the Valkyrie
Vilhelm Estridson Knytling [benkern]
In brackets are accounts already in place in other member states of the Commonwealth.

Of these people, excluding those with accounts abroad, I expect many to be active due to the ceremonial nature and the high employment rate of Stormark. Pensions for those who are knighted have been discussed, awarding money for skalds ("bounties") as well as perhaps a Viking twist of playing a game of raids among each other, for the sake of fun.

It is also possible that Stormark would join some inter-SC recwar league later.
2. Does Stormark currently have any sort of functioning economy?
No. The economic structure of the Commonwealth intrigued us and is a system we are willing to copy, however giving it an Imperial, Viking design. Hierarchic and meritocratic at the same time. The economies of Treisenberg and Hurmu will be under the laws of their respective legislatures. Therefore, a sum would each be allocated them in form of central banks for Hurmu and Treisenberg.
3. Is Stormark intending to institute any sort of regular taxes on its citizens?
According to the calculations made, Stormark would have funds covering its needs for well some time. So at the moment, regular taxes is not a possibility explored, but we would of course reserve the right to change this in the future. Hurmu would probably not tax its residents, but I cannot answer for Treisenberg.

Thanks, that answers my questions fine. Adapting the currency to your needs is excellent, that's the only way you'll get an economy that works long term. Reserving tax for the future is fine too (I think we all have that reserved) - just as long as you weren't making it inherent in your system at the start, any other modifications you make should be fine. I would be delighted to have Stomark join the SCUE. :thumbsup

I only had one question, about the subdivisions I had to enter into the system. (working on a way for the main admin to do this without me.)

Now we just need Antica and Alexandria and NEVO, and the world shall be ours! :archy (figuratively speaking. Let's get Stormark fully assimilated first).

Our economy is growing! :party

Maybe we need to create a website / central place with a list of services (like Andreas made one) and links to the economic centres of the member nations. If I think about it, a wiki page would be perfect (as everyone can edit it).
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

The economy should of course have a Shirewiki page. Why didn't I think of that? :fish

Not just a page. Also a page with information about the services within the economy and ways to contact the company (a link to a forum, for example).

Haha! Stormark is very pleased at the positive response given here :)

As for subdivisions/regions, the preliminary division would be as follows (this may change in the course of the next few days):

* Althingi Stormark
* Hurmu
* Treisenberg

If you make a Stormark Treasury or equivalent, I'll give you your 105000 tomorrow. If you don't do it by tomorrow and I'm back on LOA, get Erik to.
