After some brief reaserch I found that there was still no conclusive and official agreement, anywhere, about the nature of our System. This is an issue that we as a nation must address before we can hope to make any ground (or space).

For the sake of having a starting point I will use the list that was last agreed upon by the MAS. I'll we be making some revisions and adding pertinent information about each planet as they are agreed upon.

Sun : Atos

1. Chrono changed to Eos (Dawn)
2. Micras (moons: Tarsica)
3. Inferia changed to Pyros (Fire)
4. Indigo
5. Chrysos (Gold)
6. Thalassa (Ocean)
7. Nephele (Cloud)
8. Glinos (Maple)
9. Noctis (Night)
10. Opisthe (Hindmost)

I believe Bill made (or was making) a virtual tour of the solar system ...

EDIT: Typo corrected.

He might be meaning a virtual tour.

Well if he has, I have yet to find any indications of its existence. :(
In any case when I have the time to go to my media lab and use a good computer for the 3D rendering in Photoshop I will see if I can not make a half decent star map. Actually does anyone have a good way to render a field of stars? Doing one at a time will be tedious.

Now. Dissucssions are open to all who wish to participate in the finalization of names, orbits, climates, Bio Level, etc, of the planets.

Also the ISI is in the process of developing the first ever probe to visit Eos to gather vital information. More details to come.

Have we been to Tarsica?

No we haven't actually. Hmm well to cover up this obvious laps in logic I will offer the explanation that we already know a lot about our moon from information gathered by other nations, and that we know little to none about almost all the other planets and should expend our resources on increasing our knowledge of these planets instead of producing redundant information. :thumbsup

Are we sure that he is no longer working on this mysterious project?

Why are all the orbits jacked up and on different planes of rotation? They ought to be on the same plane. Don't use Pluto as an example of a "planet" that's off the plain, it always was jacked up when people wanted to call it a planet. (thus it not being one)

Well...if it's a binary star system...that might mess with it...

Ahhh I've always liked the idea of living in a binary star. And my rendition is simply artistic Erik. You may have noticed I actually forgot to include Eos. When I actually get the time to come back full force I'll put some effort into a 3D model that will be more precise and cooler. :yay:

I would advise more research into what others have already gotten done so far.

No, you will NOT change the name Chrono to Eos, I will burn this place to the ground if you change that!!!! :angry

Hello

I happen to run MAS since Bill left :demon

Yeah, Bill has made a whole Celestia Atos system, complete with Asteroids and I believe he integrated stars into it, but last time I heard he was wanting to change the star map AGAIN. (You probably missed this as you don't frequent MCS, but I had to post about 10 "final star maps" because Bill kept suggesting another improvement.)

Let me dig up the current star maps...

Here is a list of the stars, "{Longditude*10} - {Latitude*10} - {Brightness in that random logarithmic star units whose name I forget}"
http://micras.org/temp/phptests/Coords_new.txt

Here is a map showing the location of stars over the planet, if the planet was frozen at exactly some sort of time, each star is marked as being exactly over the relative places on micras, this map is in a projection people don't like star maps in, so only I use it. but it's very useful sometimes.
http://micras.org/temp/phptests/star_map.php

Here is a north polar map, this is the kind of projection people like to see:
http://micras.org/temp/phptests/north_polar.php

Here is a south polar map, like north, but opposite side of micras:
http://micras.org/temp/phptests/south_polar.php

Andreas once made us some nice constellations, but after Bill messed it all around, they most probably don't fit anymore. It would be nice if we had some constellations again but I don't think anyone really will. Ryan said he was working on some, don't know how that went...
At one point I was trying to get suggestions for names for some of the stars but I didn't get any names. There are 9185 stars.

It would be awesome if I could grab a copy of Bill's atos system, but he always says it's not finished, I fear in case he leaves and we lose it :(

Yeah, my constellations were off the old Star Map. I would love to see the finished Atos System model from Bill though, even if it isn't quite finished.

It's unfortunate that we had to change it, but the work going into the current one is exactly why I tell bill we cannot change this one.

Luckily these stars are in the perfect brightness distribution as the real stars and are also spread evenly over the globe* so there's no real reason to change them anymore.

*If you loo on the rectangular map I like to use, it looks like there is a band running across the center of the map, this is simply due to projection spreading out the stars more at the poles due to the failures of putting a sphere onto a rectangle. although it's quite a nice effect to view, as it's the same projection on micras so with the same detail over the map you soon realist how squished up the poles are** :P

**Which is why Bill wants to add extra map to the top and bottom of the map, for more ice caps, which is very annoying.

Admiral Quirk, of course, has detailed scans of the whole system. but since showing them would violate the Prim Directive, he wont show them to me.

By a stroke of luck, bill was online last night :D

http://bill3000.net/BGI/Atos.rar

You install celestia
when that is installed, go to your programs files, then celestia, in there is a folder called extras, go into that folder and create a folder called addons, then extract the rar into there. so the final address should be C:/Program files/Celestia/extras/addons/Atos/{files here} don't have two folders called Atos inside each other.

then open up celestia and click Navigations > Go to Object, then type Atos into the Object box and click Go to
now you have atos, our happy star in it's happy world

now click Navigation>Solar system browser
you have a list of all the planets and asteroids along with their moons!

Personally I quite like Sanmega 75 and it's moon of A74-I, A75-II has an odd effect on it's orbit :D see: spyrograph :P

EDIT: Indigo and Platau are in there too, but not marked as planets

You're the best, Spangle! :thumbsup
It's fun when you let the time go 10000x faster. :D

Maybe I can add some changes... I will go on investigation. :angel

Bill made a small mistake. Those two planets aren't even spinning around Atos. :knife

They orbit each other and then they as a unit orbit Atos

Bill was always fond of the dual planets idea, but it was abandoned officially, but he has kept it alive :P

for a while it was suggested as a way to solve MCS-GSO relations :P GSO rejected it, saying they are in a different solar system, they designed some pretty much random moons, some of which would have been torn apart by their planets gravitational pull due to bad testing of variables :P

Indeed, very beautiful. Now I know the dual planet-thingy isn't a mistake, it sounds interesting. Can't it be made official again?

Is there a chance that the MCS would approve Indigo to be colonized? I know that we haven't the technology in RL, but this are micronations! :document :p

We don't have maps of them :P

It would need discussion in MAS to make it official again, and by new we're also meant to have a council or something for MAS to decide things, but no ones taken interest in it so MCS council has been deciding stuff for it :D
