Shireroth v Tellia
JHI Stadium, Avakair, Asantelian
Tuesday 20th July - 19:30 GMT Kick-off
Broadcasted on Tivi2

Shireroth will face a tricky task against Tellia at the JHI Stadium on Tuesday night, with the sun possibly holding out for a nice sunset match. The 18000 seater stadium in the north of Shireroth should be a full sell out, with a travelling number of 2000 Tellians crossing the border west of Shireroth. This will undoubtedly be one of the last times the current national team will be able to prove their worth to the new PSL competition, with some players still searching for teams being a free agent.

The match has been drilled to many of the players to prove their worth regardless of the result. Whilst Shireroth fall outside the Top 16 of the FMF rankings, Tellia are currently ranked 6th on Micras, having progressed through the quarter finals of the world cup last year, as well as a final appearance in 2006 and a semi-final in 2007. On paper, it seems that Shireroth have a tough challenge, and so the players should play for their future regardless of what happens.

Team News

Following the withdrawal of Giorgio Rosso due to injury, Frederico Diamo will now take the captains armband for only the second time for his national side. Because of this, there has been a shake up to the Tellian side in the back four due to Rosso's withdrawal. Valérien Hertz moves from the left to the right side of defence in his favoured position, whilst Osjaton Aztec's defender Leonzio Pandolfi has moved into the vacant left back spot. This makes the defensive line consisting of 2 Tellian based players and 2 Craitish based players. Pasquale di Montezemolo and Marco Schiavvi return to the centre-back pairing following the tryouts of Yakov Cohen and Michele Contè against Nova English Korea. Martin Große, Rosso's replacement in the Tellian squad will start on the bench.

Elsewhere on the Tellian lineup, the foreign contingent continues. Sezer Özker, of Incontinentian heritage returns to the side on the right wing after being left on the bench against Nova English Korea whilst Kristófer Jóhannsson is going to play alongside captain Diamo in the defensive midfield pairing ahead of the back four. Franz Menzola and Andrea Luca Perruzzi also return to the side at midfield and up front respectively.

Meanwhile, the home side look to maximise the use of the unattached players in order to use the match as a showcase for the PSL teams. However, the Shirerithians have placed a fairly competitive team, with some starting players already playing for clubs. As made public previously, Didinho will go ahead and captain the side in the absence of goalkeeper Anders Bjornsson.

Freddie Jones and Ronny Vermidion will start in defence as they look to secure new clubs for the upcoming season, while recently MMFC signed defender Nuno Santos Gomez will complete the centre half pairing with Vermidion. Didinho will start at his more often usual than not position at left back in what looks to be a promising back four.

In a 4-3-3 position, the midfield consists of three signed players, with Imperial United's Talsin Llwrran, Mortis Mercatoria's Tor Svensson and Martyn Toltenaki (who plays his football in Zandarijn for Grenstad Verenigd) completing the middle of the pack.

Up front Shireroth are displaying 3 unsigned players, with number 10 Gary Smith playing through the middle with Jalal Akwa on the right and Mickey Graves on the left playing in an more advanced position from the usual left midfield.

With both squads looking pretty handy, we should be in for a good game.

Penalty = Blatant Dive (watch the replay over and over again, you'll see Frederico got to the ball first and Sezer Ozker just took a dive onto the floor, referee gave it). Then the team just fell apart.

Yeah, he CAUGHT THE BALL! How can he touch the player first if he caught the ball? Horrendous decision.

By the way, Toltenaki should have been wearing orange since he imitated a traffic cone all the time.

Yeah, but he's a midfielder. I liked how they got some chances in the second half. Gary Smith should've scored too.

I certainly saw promise in our defenders and midfielders. Frederico might as well have not dressed. Forwards just didn't have it, they let a lot of good chances go to waste, which has me worried about my acquisition, but I still feel confident they've got more to offer.

Also, did I see correctly? Did Liurion get some time on the field?

And yeah, really shitty call.

Well, the goals wasn't exactly Frederico's fault, since he got absolutely no support from his defenders.

Frederico did alright IMO, there were definately good moments where he showed authority (the penalty that shouldn't have been one), as well as having gooding delivery throwing the ball out and re-starting play, trying to build attacks.
