Shirerithian Association Football League
Hello friends!
This is the new soccer league of Shireroth. For the gazillionth time, I'm going to attempt to start a league. The basic outline is like this:
1. In the interest of getting this going, games in the first season will not be televised.
2. Each team will have to have one or more designated owners.
3. Each owner or group of owners will have to pay a registration fee to the SAFL.
4. Each owner or group of owners will also have to buy the players for their team (between 16 and 23 players), initially from the SAFL, according to a price list.
5. All these funds will be deposited in the SAFL account and distributed as prize money at the end of the season.

Description of the SAFL
Teams and games
The league will hopefully consist of eight teams from all over Shireroth. One game per team per week will be played for a total of four games. Each team will play a total of 14 games, once home and once away against every opponent. The winner gets three points, the loser none. In a tied game each team will get one point. A transcript of each game will also be posted for reference and enjoyment. All games will, hopefully, be simulated in FIFA08.
Players
Each team will be required to buy their players from the SAFL. An amateur player class 2 will cost 10 Erb, an amateur player class 1 will cost 20 Erb. All money payed to the league will go to the upkeep of the league as well as prize money for the teams. Each team manager shall name 16-23 players, with the following information:
a) Number (1-100)
b) Name
c) Position (defender, midfielder, striker)
d) Class (corresponds to the price, a list is on its way)
Player transfers will not be allowed during the season, only afterwards. Teams may then freely negotiate for the transfer of players between the teams.
Owners
Each team shall also have one or more owners. The owners invest money in their team and are the ones that manage the team budget, including any prize money, player transfer money, sponsorship deals etc. They also appoint the team Manager. The Manager may also be a owner.
Sponsorship
Each team is free to negotiate sponsorship deals with any company in Shireroth.

Come on now people, register your team now! I said 25 Erb for each amateur player before, but that figure is highly negotiable. Just keep in mind that cheaper players means less prize money.

Re: Shirerithian Association Football League
Gotta admit I´m very interested. Here are some of my concerns.
[e]Player transfers will not be allowed during the season, only afterwards.[/quote]
... (or at least a sufficient number to always win), causing a mostly amateur team to never or seldom win, thus having less chance for prize money - thus making the investment in a team less "desirable".
Just seems like a possible (blind) unlevel playing field from the first kickoff.
If the kinks are worked out and if I have enough money in time, I´ll join.
Each team manager shall name 16-23 players
A fully amateur team with 23 players will cost EUR575 - I want the Barony of Hallucination to have a team, but I may not have the full fee (being here just a short time and having committed by earnings to a couple of projects) until sometime in March. An amateur player will cost 25 Erb, an international star player will cost several thousand Erb
Even for a person who has enough money to start an amateur team another might purchase a team with all international star players...All money payed to the league will go to the upkeep of the league as well as prize money for the teams.

Re: Shirerithian Association Football League
Good point Austi. All fees are lowered to this:
Registration fee: 50
Amateur player, class 2: 10
Amateur player, class 1: 20 (no more than three class 1 players per team)
This means that a team with 16 players can cost as little as 210 . That will also mean that the difference between the teams will not be as large as under the previous system, while still ensuring some difference.

Lamifo Corp. might be interested in sponsoring a team.

Re: Shirerithian Association Football League
By the way, seven subs will be allowed in each game, with three possible substitutions. So, if you want to fill all substitute positions, you need at least 18 players (11+7).

Re: Shirerithian Association Football League
Income could also be made by offering other citizens chances to bet on which teams they think will win games.
Aaak!

Good idea. We'll need a good odds setter.
