The ground shakes and the skies fill with incandescent fountains and starbursts, leaving thick smoke in their place. A worthy offering, indeed.

Last night I paid homage to the gods while watching fire....

By that token the entire state of California is paying tribute in fire and flame, with no end in sight but November and the return of the rains. At last count, over 1500 fires from Oregon to the Mexican border, most started by dry lightning.
