Moving the forum

Now that the MCS has moved to become a micronational hub, I reopen the idea that we might move our forum there. Originally I opposed the idea of moving to the MCS forum; both as unnecessary and because I was worried about the potential for MCS political machinations.

Now it's becoming the hub for the sector and administratorship is moving more to Spangle, who pays the bills and has the technical know-how; I'm much more confident that we could get a forum there and there would be no danger of political pressure being placed on us because of our presence there. It would also help us become more visible - a mixed blessing - more nations see us; but people also notice when we don't do very much.

Oh, and there's an Economics forum. I'm itching to get out and promoting the SCUE, but it feels ... inappropriate to do that if we aren't on the same forum.

I am curious on how the honorable representative from Gralus justifies his belief that the MCS forum could put no pressure on us. It is the same forum core, lead by the same administrative team, with a new name and a broader focus that has not yet come to pass. They may hope to someday be a hub, yes, but right now they're still the MCS forum with a few extra subforums. Any potential for political pressure that existed beforehand must surely still exist now.

You're quite right that there is currently little more than the rough idea of being more than the MCS; I'm happy to admit that I'm working off the trajectory of things like this. The MCS model is Administrator General at the top; and Techie under. However administratorship works out in the new system, Spangle will be at the top (even if he shares that post with some others) and the leader of the MCS will not automatically equate into admin. I trust Spangle to not abuse his powers; and if I'm honest, his expected micronational lifespan is greater than the expected lifespan of the SC. So that's the reasoning for my change of opinion.

If we'd like to wait a little to confirm that things have changed, that's fine.

I vote AYE for Antica.

As far as I know, Antica has not officially appointed a representative to the Small Commonwealth.

Aryeztur was made representative ages ago as Foreign Minister and he remains so pro tempore until we reaffirm him the representative in a few days.

Okies. Perhaps you should make sure that was put in the registry.

Shireroth ABSTAINS for now, I too am a bit skeptical of the MCS' new "hub" policy. I'm sure it will work out, but I'd like to see more progress first. As such, though, I won't mind if the other nations all agree.

In case anyone wonders, as Primate, I think it would be good to get the SC forums to a more centralized location. It would help if people could see what was going on.

You know... as Secundus, I'm sort of thinking... this isn't really all that necessary, since Shireroth gets so much traffic that the SC gets plenty of visibility already.

I talked to the MCS forum people... they have no issues with the move, and welcome it. (of course they do...).

Considering Spangle's apparent departure, Gralus changes their vote to ABSTAIN and advises this be put on pause until we can be sure of what's happening with that.

I don't know the details, but apparently arguments on #micronations drove him out.

I don't frequent the channel and I don't know any specifics. But I spoke to him briefly on MSN and got the impression that what he called "flaming" on IRC was a major factor in his departure, along with exams and all the usual stuff.

Unless anyone else plans to vote?

I think it's mostly exams and stuff. Artz seemed a bit surprised at his departure from #micronations, but I could of course be mistaken.
