Welcome, Count Harald!

Welcome to Cimmeria.

Cimmeria has a long history: it was possibly founded as one of Ryan Caruso's various nation projects in 2000, and was an independent territory of Shireroth by 2001. It's the site of two famous battles: the Battle of Cimmeria, an official Shirerithian holiday celebrated every year on February 19th, and the Battle of Wolfraven, in which Kaiser Los II won his throne.

Its largest city and only major landmark, Wolfraven, is now owned by Nordland, but that's okay. I'm sure you'll give it some new places of interest.

Ethnically, Cimmeria is about 50% Cimmerian. The Cimmerians are racially different from the other Elw and used to control a large part of the northern Benacian continent; they even threatened to invade Shirekeep at one point. Of the rest, about 20% are Hyperborean, 20% are Vikings from Wintergleam, and 10% are mainland Elw, southern Shirerithian, or other.

You'll probably want to concentrate on the Viking minority, who live mostly on the southern few islands. That's okay. Just don't rename the island chain into something Norse, and we'll get along fine.

I hereby release you from all serious feudal obligations and promise not to order you around or anything. I'll probably let you be Baron here after I spend another month or two with the title, but I'm enjoying it now.

I'll also probably meddle in Cimmerian culture a little, especially any parts you neglect, but feel free to tell me to go away or say that my meddling isn't canon if you want.

In celebration of your ascension to the throne of Cimmeria, and the union of the great city of Avaldsnes with the Barony of Kai-Raikoth, I hereby present you with a tapestry upon which the finest Hyperborean artisans have drawn an image of your beloved Avaldsnes for you. I think it will look good in your palace.

Let this tapestry be a symbol of the bonds between our two people and of the new, greater Kai-Raikoth that is to come!

Yours,

Is that so... useful to know. The Duchy could use a handy clacks network...

Why clacks when we could have sentient pearwood couriers doing the work for us?

Because clacks aren't as flammable as sapient pearwood couriers?

Indeed, a valid point you put forward. Clacks it is. :yay:

Clearly.

YOU DID NOT TAKE VETINARI. I was thinking about it, and then I thought: "That's kind of arrogant, seeing as Vetinari is awesome. I'm not THAT awesome. Maybe I can be like a mini-Vetinari? I won't use his picture though". So I didn't.

Too far, man, too far.

Accepted. You do remind of Vetinari....Vetinari mixed with Leonard of Quirm, with a hint of Ronnie Soak.

Nah. Ardashir's not Vetinari. Maybe a cross between Vorbis and Astfgl. If anyone in Elwynn is Vetinari, it would be Iskander.

Vorbis! That's who I was looking for. Couldn't remember the name... *sheepish*

You never cease to amaze me with your insights, Scott. I marvel at what goes on inside your head.

Less in my head and more on Wikipedia :)

*Scott suddenly wonders whether Ogg Vorbis was named after Nanny Ogg and Vorbis, and finds to his surprise that it was named after the latter but not the former. Indeed do many things come to pass*

I always wondered about that.... Vorbis isn't too common a name, right?
