Swedish speaking people, I need help...

Post by Gryphon Avocatio »

I'm writing a song in Swedish, but I obviously have no idea what it is I'm doing, since I haven't ever had any formal training in the language...

So if you could help me, I will thank you graciously.

What I have is this:

Jag gick med dig
detta natt i skogen.
Det var mörkt ute,
ingen ljud utom vindarna

Hand i hand
Jag förälskade mig i dig
Du talade ordetna
och jag höll dig i min armar

Men nu, du håller inte mig
Du har lämnat mig allena

Som mossa på en stena,
tid täcka vår förflutna.
Jag glömde dig för länge sedan,
men du spöka mig idag

What I tried to make it say is this:

I went with you
That night in the forest.
I was dark out,
no sound but the winds

Hand in hand
I fell in love with you
You said the words
And I held you i my arms

But now, you don't hold me
You have left me behind

Like moss on a stone
Time covers our past
I forgot you long ago,
but you haunt me today.

So, anything in the way of grammatical help would be nice...

Oh, and if anybody knows how to get a hold of Ric, that owuld be helpful :)

I wish I spoke Swedish! If I did, I would yell at obscenities at random strangers on the street.

Then you meet that one guy who DOES speak Swedish and he pulls a knife.
There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

That was incredibly good in fact. Just a couple of corrections (and mine could be incorrect as well as I'm not native either...)

Jag gick med dig
den där natten till skogen
Det var mörkt ute,
ingen ljud utom vindarna

Hand i hand
Jag förälskade mig i dig
Du talade orden
och jag höll dig i mina armar

Men nu, du håller inte mig
Du har överlämnat mig

Som mossan på en sten,
tiden täckar vårt förflutna.
Jag glömde dig för länge sedan,
men du spökar mig idag

What, no comments about the superiority of Finnish?

Well, to be fair, if I could even comprehend the vast greatness of that language I would write volumes in it :P

But yes, kiitos.

I realized after I wrote it that i should have used 'pa skogen' instead of 'i skogen', but I think I like till even more.

This is a comment about the superiority of Finnish.

And yes, we will win the Eurovision contest. After all we have a Malarbor lookalike this year competing for us. ;)

All of Europe should thank the courageous Finnish nation for their choice. :)

And Croatia should be mocked by all for choosing another generic female pop star with a wannabe Ruslana song that has a chorus that rips off the famous Bijelo Dugme song "Hajdemo u planine"; Severina! Symbol of traditional catholic values, abstinence promotion, and sex tapes of her distributed widely over the internet!

See you in Helsinki next year!
