Nobles - Start Councilling and Redeem Yourselves

Post by Iskander Mirkdale »

Dear Nobles,

The fate of the Republic rests in your hands. Your challenge is to make choices which may have a lasting impact for generations to come, so consider wisely and answer well.

Should the County of Frieden be renamed to Smjorkyr with our dear returned Nathan at its head?

Should either Jonas or Erik Mortis be the new Praetor of the Landsraad?

Would Malarbor make a good or evil Kaiser?

Would the Oracle of Yaanek make a wise or enigmatic Kaiser?

On this, My Lords, Iserdia does not disagree. We do recommend, pending his and this Council's approval, that the Lord of Smjorkyr be made the Baron of Iserdia in order for the Count of Cape Farewell to concentrate on matters there.
Should either Jonas or Erik Mortis be the new Praetor of the Landsraad?
This is a difficult matter. The current praetor, Jonas Windsor of Kildare, has shown a remarkable steadfastness in chairing the Landraad for many generations. Yet the everyoung Jonas is growing old. Fresh blood may be needed, but is Erik fresh enough? Many questions does this Council face.

Even during the Era Ayreonica did Jonas keep the Landsraad together. He worked well even though he preferred the Jacobite contender as kaiser over Lord Ayreon.

However, the Praetor of the Landsraad, did, without what decency requires consult the Landsraad on the amendments to the Imperial Charter. In the eyes of this Barony, the Charter is a sacred document and any proposed amendments should be carefully (this I stress) discussed, thoroughly analysed, and precisely worded, before being signed into law by the Praetor.

It appears to Cape Farewell, Araxion and Frieden, that Erik Mortis wishes to ascend to the throne of Shireroth. So, should he be made praetor of the Landsraad, he would not remain praetor for long. It would appear that the next kaiser of all of Shireroth would not be somebody else than Erik Mortis. His office as praetor would then be short.

Is thatgood for the stability of the Empire? Having to discuss a new praetor in a short time again? Such a powerful position?

No.

Cape Farewell, Araxion and Frieden recommend to this Honourable Council at Eliria that the Duke of Elwynn in the session of the Landsraad propose that the Praetor of the Landsraad is to be neither Erik Mortis or Jonas lord Kildare, but a third party which will in all future arrangements of the Landsraad protect the Landsraad, represent that assembly and be an adviser to the Kaiser on the wishes of the Nobles of the Republic.

On all other questions, the Counties of Iserdia do refrain from answering.

The Counties of Nordland concur with the Counties of Iserdia.

Yes, as long as he doesn't mind me continuing to call it "Smorky".

I support the compromise solution laid out...uh...somewhere. We keep Jonas on, but pass a Landsraad resolution requiring him to give his consent to revoke the controversial amendments.

Well it looks as though we now have two potential semi-non-compromises now, which should make things fairly interesting.
