Voting in the Landsraad

Post by Wil Nider »

Right, we're going to use this thread for me to declare how I'm voting in the Landsraad, giving all of you some time to "rebel" and take away your funding for my decisions if you like.

As it stands, we have 1091 Erb to vote with.

The current bill in question is the Inflation Bill.

I am going to vote No, or Nay, or Nein or whatever word is a la mode. My reasoning is:

- Inflation is never good.
- The bill is the exact wrong way to fix this perceived problem (note the word perceived).
- A much better way to fix the problem would be to look at ways of developing businesses and getting people to actually spend Erb on things. Right now the only use for Erb is voting and maintaining the power of Duchies, and with imposed inflation there will be the exact same problem.

I intend to start doing something to help with regards to businesses and so forth. The way to do it? Exclusive content. Fiction, games, that sort of thing. If you build it, they will come.

So citizens of Elwynn, either notify me of your rebellion or express your support for my position, so I know how many votes I have :P

Well you certainly have my support.

Content/value, as always, is King.

Plus, something tells me that the system might be better off with a rather larger float of issued currency, thus making inflation irrelevant and obviating the need for taxes. Perhaps even a less closed system could be considered.

Why I am now sensing a bit of deja vu? :demon

I couldn't say. I have at least officially studied Economics since the last time we did this :P

Three more days of voting allowed. Hopefully we'll get some kind of consensus by tomorrow evening.

I've no problem with how you vote.

(Tip: You generally assume people are supporting your vote, if they don't like it, they'll withdraw their erb and put it in a Shirekeep account so that it doesn't register for Elwynn).

And do I not have to state how much I'm voting as I vote?

Besides, I'd like to be sure that we're all on-message!

It seems not, but the actual process is still a little unclear for the uninitiated.

Yes. You say "Yea" or "Nay" or something else affirmative or negative, and then you add your votes in parenthesis. That is the standard way.

And after all that fuss, it passes anyway without our naysaying. Sorry for that folks, Scott's arrival on Sunday distracted me and I had ideas that needed dealing with. Watch this space or one quite like it!
