[Speech] Radical Elwynn!
Fellow Elwynnese,
Our duchy is strong - one third of all citizens of Shireroth have chosen to live in our lands. We are incredibly active!
In order to strengthen Elwynn and the Elwynnese nation, I will propose an idea. It may seem radical, dividing, alienating! But in fact, I propose this so that our lands will reign forever strong.
My idea resolves around the thought of sptting Elwynn in two duchies. With a real-life citizenry of twelve people (!), we can do it. The next largest duchies, Yardistan and Kildare, have six citizens each. This means that the two Elwynns would have something in the lines of this, too.
I propose that the following northern counties be made into one duchy that I will in this speech provisionally call the Northern Reaches: Agnesia, Bjorngard, Cape Farewell, Cimmeria-Avaldsnes and Hyperborea. The other six counties - Alalehzamin, Araxion, Eliria-Utasia, Illumination, Smjörkýr and Wintergleam-Wolfraven - could keep the name Elwynn.
By this division of counties, the Northern Reaches would have the following citizens:
Cho'Gall
Harald
Ísur-Ai
Scott
And the Duchy of the Rivers Elwynn would have the following active citizens:
Allot
Ardashir
Iskander
Leo
Nathan
(the other, more inactive citizens have not yet chosen places of residences)
My fellow Elwynnese!
By this formula we would have two votes in the Council of the Land, two nobles equal, each one guarding the Honour of our Patroness, Elwynn of Mount Yaanek.
May you cast your judgment upon this, my fellow Elwynnese.

I will have no splitting of Elwynn during my reign. We all know that activity comes and goes. If you feel that Elwynn is too crowded or whatever, feel free to move to other duchies. It could also be the case that Elwynn is not overly active, but rather has the level of activity that all duchies should have.

Sounds awfully like a veto... (& anyone who attempts to take up the suggestion of emigration to share the bounty of activity with other lands will be shot, decree or no decree)

It does, doesn't it?
I liked this idea, but for what good will that do now when our Kaiseress has said no?

Yes, I speak to him every day and he lurks here, too. He's very quiet though.
All citizens who post in the census are considered active

A point is that you can't just form a duchy. It has to be formed by either me or a full consensus of the Landsraad.

Well I personally like the idea of keeping Elwynn whole and it seems it will stay that way for the time being.
Why he no speak then?Prince Ísur-Ai wrote:

Of course, Majesty. You are perfectly right in that respect. But I wanted to see if there ws support among the Elwynnese first, before we approached your mangoic throne.

If we wanted to be awkward of course we could just grant the North autonomy and its own Steward.

Do whatever you like with Elwynn, divide it into thirteen autonomous parts all headed by a grand Poobahh, but you'll only get one vote in the Landsraad.

I am a bit iffy about messing too much with the subdivisions. Take it to the Landsraad, see what they say.

Re: [Speech] Radical Elwynn!
Don't like. As the Kaiseress says, activity comes and goes. Six months ago, people were all worried that Yardistan was getting disproportionally big and important.
Besides, this is good. Elwynn is actually really interesting and exciting stuff is getting done on an almost daily basis, as opposed to most of the other Duchies which are plodding along at best. Why would we voluntarily give that up?
And the tradition! Won't somebody think of the tradition?

DO NOT WANT
Elwynn is actually the Duchy I like to see biggest (aside from Yardistan, of course). At its greatest height, the mix of people here reminds me of some kind of overstretched Turkish empire or something. Babkhans killing, other cultures yearning, you kick ass but you pull in different directions. But you're doing it purposefully! It works wonderfully in a micronation. Elwynn is a very fortunate duchy and I wouldn't like to see it split.

Thanks, Bacchus. The only good argument I heard against that idea of mine, that was

Damn, everyone else beat me to the point. I was going to rant on about how Nathan and I would never allow this and blah blah blah blah.

Re: [Speech] Radical Elwynn!
For some time now Elwynn has almost been functioning as a nation within a nation, and it's rare to see any national subdivision operating sustainably and at length at such a level. Let's not be in a hurry to throw that away in the name of progress.
P.S. Yes I am occupied elsewhere, particularly with Expo-related stuff right now. Which reminds me, Shireroth's contribution is rather conspicuous by its absence. As the Expo's sponsor, that doesn't look very good. Care to divert some of this boundless energy towards Gralus?

Re: [Speech] Radical Elwynn!
Splitting is never a good idea. Instead of twelve people focusing on one thing it will be 6 people focusing on one thing, and then the other six people on another, albeit slightly similar, thing. The dual-dukes of the two Elwynns may work together at first but down the road there is bound to be disagreements. I do agree with Bacchus' opinion, Elwynn's activity is sustained by its diversity. But we are all united as Elwynnese despite the many many ethnic, religious, and cultural differences.
I won't further reiterate what has already been said, I do not support this idea.
