Internal Administration of Khorze: Information

Post by AryezturMejorkhor »

Khorze is divided into fiefs or baronial counties. Fiefs are run by noblemen loyal to the Baron. Baronial counties are run by Governors appointed by the Baron. Within both types of entities, lesser nobles may have fiefs or there may be self-governed villages or towns run by councils or with a hereditary headman. Some areas are owned by the church of Arya. These are called ecclesiastical fiefs.

This system prevails throughout most of Khorze. However, the exception to this rule are free cities. Free cities are major cities; being major cities, they are administered separately and autonomously. Generally, free cities run in a non-feudal way with a Mayor, an upper house of nobles and a lower house of commoners. They are only answerable to the Baron. Teldrin, Mejor, and Erinamor are run like this. Goldshire Hamlet, the other free city, is the personal seat of the Duke of Goldshire. He may do whatever he wishes to with it and in it.
