Sure his boss had been granted certain status by the former Lord. Sure, the other co-Bailiff had gone over to the adversaries of the Imperial Republic.
But during the governmental upheavals of the recent past, the Mar Sarans had been much pretty left to themselves. How would they react to his very slim thread of doubly-delegates authority.
Lord Jake sure could stretch things when no one was looking.
The Nelagans were kind enough to let him refuel, and had even improved his plane's engines enough that he could make the return trip direct.
"Augustgrad Field, this is Kappa Delta 590 requesting permission to land."
"Kappa Delta 590, you are cleared to land on runway one. Commence your approach."
"Roger."
