Still in the ideas stage, but it's developing. They're quite comfortable in the water, swimming and diving around. They're shorter than normal humans, and often look a bit like they're sneaking. They have a great respect for seers, having produced a number themselves, and especially like divination from looking at clouds. They're also good with history and knowledge and so on (hence a temple to Sakat).

The Mel'anje people, a race full of wisdom in words and history, discerning in their writing, and careful in their records, were descended from the first follower of Sakat, Squid god of Time, god of Historians, and patron god of Melangia. They also have a great respect for Seers, and put great faith in divination of cloud patterns.
Physically, resemble humans, but their eyes are narrower, their body shorter, their toes and fingers have the slightest webbing, making them able to swim better underwater. Their lungs are expanded, and their swimming ability is far greater than any human.

Can we...urm just say they are humans? Ashkenatza isn't so big on the whole fantasy thing, but we still want to develop the Mala'Eretz from the stuff you've laid down about these people.
