An unexplained leave

More and more people gathered at Derevograd square to see what was going on. Four of the greatest knights in Sermolot were clearly prepared to leave. The Marquess was with them. Five men, their horses packed. There were four others too: messengers, possibly. One of them carried the flag of the Marquessate.
Gaius had strictly instructed his deputies. They were to solve possible problems, nothing else. They had to report to him every week or immediately in case of emergency. Only they knew where he was going.
The Marquess and his escort rode out. The flag carrier in front, followed by the Marquess, then the knights in pairs. The three messengers, riding alongside each other, followed at the back of the line.
