Constructed Language for Vervoll

Post by W.Payne »

One of the reasons I was drawn to micronations was the constructed languages that most micronations seem to have. I have decided to create a quick conlang for use in Vervoll. This language uses a simple formula to create words. Here it is:

1.) Take an ENGLISH word: Peace

2.) Add an "o" to the end: Peace-o

3.) Move the last three letters, including the o, to the beginning of the word: Ceopea

4.) Now take any c's or q's and turn them into k's and take any silent h's and leave them out, and make any w's into v's. If there are any double letters, get rid of one of them: Keopea (pronounced Keh-oh-pea-ah)

5.) If the word is compound, seperate it into two words: "into" would be "ino too"(ee-noh too)

6.) If the word is only one letter long, like "I" and "a", add a zh in front of it. The zh is pronounced like the Chinese zh, like the Chinese name Zhao: "I" would be "zhio" and "a" would be "zhao"

So what does everyone think? It's not as fancy as many constructed languages but it is efficient.

Soo atov esodo ryo'eve neoo nkothi? Ito iso oton aso kyofan aso nyoma edokonstrukt esolanguag utob ito iso ntoefikie.

Reminds me of Pig Latin.

It's a bit more complicated than Pig Latin and it actually sounds like a different language than English, whereas Pig Latin just sounds like an American with a speech impediment. ;)

We didn't sound like people with speech impediments, we sounded like kids who wanted to get away with cussing in class. :D

So what does everyone think? It's not as fancy as many constructed languages but it is efficient.
Why bother running marathons, when it's more efficient to take a bus twenty six miles away? Why bother learning karate, when it's easier to shoot people? Why learn to play the bagpipes, when you can just stick a cat in a blender?

It also has the added bonus of being readable without consulting a word list or any nonsense. I was able to read Scott's message with only minor difficulties.

For something I made in just a little bit of time, I didn't think it would get even this level of praise :) Thanks a lot.

Also, do I need to draw up a decree making it the official constructed language of Vervoll?

Bureaucracy can't hurt, can it? :document

Lord Payne, I want to recognise your conlang as one of the official languages of Kildare. What do you think?
