Trade

Post by Andreas the Wise »

My Kaiser (this is addressed mainly to Ayreon, as I am, after all, the Minister for Trade, or Treasurer even, and give my approval to this, and have already shown the concept to the steward) - I have long been interested in having a working resource trading system for Micras, that not only allows easy transactions, but also gives a point for such transactions. After various incarnations, I have finally redeveloped it to a state were it is simple to use, sleek, and perfectly tuned to Micras. I've also put it on a website to make it easier to find your way around. Have a look, please, and give any comments if parts are hard to understand.

And here is the page listing all Shirithian resources and how I counted them. This page isn't available from the front yet as they're still slightly in development, but I thought you of all people might want to see it.

To allay several fears before they start:
* This is resource trading only. And only of the resources on the resource map which could be considered "extra large deposits". Trading from this will in no way limit our military capability, it will merely increase our popularity and economic involvement internationally.
* No erb are being exchanged for anything (the system has "Trade Credits", a currency not tied to any national one, to avoid exchange rate problems). I'm not jumping the gun on the Commonwealth at all - I'm only intending to use this to trade resources, which currently aren't used in our economy anyway.
* I'll organise it all, there's no need to bother other people.
* New trading partners could bring new nations to visit and ally with Shireroth

My Kaiser, I have worked long and hard to develop this and I hope it meets your approval for Shireroth to trade their resources under this system.

Your humble servant,
The Treasurer
PS: I'm posting it here because comments from others are welcome too.

I think we need to give this a chance. :)

Maybe I will propose it in Batavia. Could you make a page for Batavia (like you did for Shireroth) too, Andreas?

Certainly, I'd be delighted for Batavie to be involved. :thumbsup

EDIT: http://sites.google.com/a/toketi.org/mi ... ns/batavie
There you go. If you pm me a gmail address of you or someone else in Batavie that wants to handle trade, I'll add you so you can edit your spreadsheet. If you'd care to drop round to Novatainia, we'd love to trade with you too and we can get straight into that ...

Any other nations reading this are welcome too ... I'll announce this publicly soon, but I'm making sure I get key nations (Shireroth is of course at the top of the list) involved first, so when I unveil it its not "Look, here's a system (again)", but rather "Look, here, tis already working, come join in the fun!"

It could, but I feared some of it might be too difficult (though admittedly its easier now I don't have trade resetting each month). It's like a bank with 41 currencies per person though ...

41 fields... plus name.

Are the people trading, or the nations?

username, country, one field for each resource, trade credit.
And the rest can more or less just use the bank code, with some modifications. Hell.. if it's trading on an individual level I could in theory blend it with the....holy shit..... I just got an idea how to make the bank work for multiple nations at once. using a single database, and multiple currencies that aren't being intertraded/converted... (though one person can only have 1 type of currency in an account)....

The possibilities are boggling....

It's nations trading, not individuals. They need to be able to "reset" their resource trading when they revoke a deal, and they need to be able to mod resources to add more in as they make further expansions etc. If that helps ...

It's simple.. demarcate what the currency in the account is, based on where it is registered to. So when you move money to an account, it only can move to accounts with the same kind of currency. I can't move erb into an account registered to use... err... CITRA. But if to nations use the same currency, I would make it so those two nations can move money between them. Just add a field for "currency" for us it would say erb for another nation citra.. etc. I just add a lil table with a list of nations and the currency they use. And a list of subdivisions in those countries, for nations where it matters, like in Shireroth.

Ah, I think we're talking about two different things now. You just want a bank with multiple currency, and I'm saying "trade database is probably too hard and adding the extra complications." Bank with multi currency is fine - I'd like CITRA in a bank, but Bayen's happy with spreadsheets ... :fish

We WERE talking the same thing.. but I got distracted.

No... using modified bank code. and a new database... with LOTS of entries we could automate the trading, at least storing of the information and it's manipulation. Sadly I have NO time for suh a task.
