Nifty Technology of the Week (11/11/05)
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/techn...422098.stmSuper-fast broadband? What, they're STILL increasing speed? My old 56k is being left so far behind, it's not even funny...Still, the new technology being implemented has its drawbacks. You get the most out of it if you live within 300 meters of the nearest telephone exchange; many users will get only 8 Mbps, far below the theoretical maximum of 22 Mbps.

Wow. Just, wow. There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

Quote:To achieve the full 24Mbps, people would have to live within 300 metres of their telephone exchange, the research found. At that kind of distances you'd be better off just using 802.11... The league of sadistic telepaths: "There's someone in your head and it's not you"
