Ethnic Map of Shireroth
Heya,
I was just looking at ShireWiki and saw the great amount of ethnic diversity we have in Shireroth- Hyperboreans, Yardistanis, Laqi, Lywinders, and many others. Of course, although not every county would have its own majority ethnic group, I'm reckoning there is a general majority 'Shirereithan' ethnicity throughout most of the Counties who would just speak Shirereithan English, but I'll need some input.
Basically, I want to create an ethnic map of Shireroth showing the concentration and distribution of the main Shirereithan ethnic groups- be great for our Cultural Development, I reckon!
I've already done a little work on where the main ethnic groups in K'Tzuni would be (for example, the Laqi People live mainly in the southern Crestfall Downs and Modan-Lach, but there are substantial minorities in Lywind and the coastal area around Alexandretta and Musica, I was thinking- that is, if the Countess of Alexandretta has no problem with that?).
Here's a Language Spread/ Ethnicity Map Armen Sourenian (otherwise known as St. Fenix) did for Matbaa a while back *sighs* good times...
Would anyone be interested in helping me start an initiative like this?
Cheers,
Hadjimehmetov

Interesting. I want to help. But now it's a bit busy...
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Re: Ethnic Map of Shireroth
We are having a language discussion in Lakhesis as well. I reckon that Thanatos is majority Lakhesian with a sizeable Shirerithian English minority, as well as some Passikaans spoken in the north-east. Mainland Musica is Yardistani/Shirerithian English, with the islands being Laqi perhaps, or a local isolated language. I would suggest the later.

Languages or people groups or both? If its both, Melangia has Melangians (kinda obvious) and Halluci has the Halluci people again now but the Halluci are not really a people group so much as a shared illusion ....
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy
And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

Re: Ethnic Map of Shireroth
Probably language groups would be better. Ethnic groups would be too difficult, and language groups would be a de-facto ethnic map anyway- are there any Counties I missed out on that list, though?
Those are most of the ones I could find on ShireWiki...

Re: Ethnic Map of Shireroth
I'm not sure I appreciate the spread of all these Earth languages prefixed with "Shirithian". If I recall correctly, Shirithian English really is just whatever kind of English is common where Erik lives, plus some weird things like contracting "probably" to "proly", using ellipses a lot, having gender-neutral pronouns, and pronouncing "Shirithian" as "Shirithian". I think it ought to be defined what the other Shirithian languages are .
(Straylightian English, fwiw, is just Shirithian English with some further changes such as not requiring an auxiliary verb for negation ("I like not coffee"), having sane double negatives, and some other things I've forgotten by now. The ethnicities of Straylightian sancts are up to the counts to work out, however, you can generally expect any sanct to have a melting-pot population consisting of a slight majority of Yardistanis and a somewhat random allocation of other Shirithians and non-Shirithians)

Re: Ethnic Map of Shireroth
To be honest I quite like the idea of a standardised Shirereithan English- however, what with the majority of Shireroth's Californian founders long gone inactive, it's probably far from reasonable to employ it across Shireroth now.
Thing is, there are a fair few counties who actually state their language as Shirereithan English, French, or Dutch. I see no problem with that- in fact, it shows a lot more cultural development than a county which just states itself as 'English', with no differentiation... I suppose I could leave the counties without distinct ConLangs blank, but that wouldn't be as much fun- and it wouldn't be fair on the active Counts who do use Shirereithan English (I'm sure there are a few, but in Old Man Shireroth's history I'm still a relative newbie, so someone will have to enlighten me ).
Maybe we ought to actually find out which Counties do still use actual Metzler-style Shirereithan English and put it on the map for them?
Thanks for the County list, Erik-
here are the ones missing:
Smjörkýr- English
Monty Crisco- English
Lunaris- Seemingly a mix of 1337 5P33K and English
Correction of Musica- Yardistani, English, Lakhesian
Automatica- English, Halluci
Blackrock- English, Halluci
Schlangen (cool flag, by the way )- Shirereithan English, Halluci
Vervollkommnung- English, Halluci, German
Mirioth, Amity, and So-Sara- Yardistani
Mar Sara- Yardistani, Pantherfolkspeak
Lac Glacei- Mala'anje, English
Sunderspray- Shirithian English, Straylightian English, Benacian
Discontinuity- Straylightian English, Finnish (?)

Re: Ethnic Map of Shireroth
I added Deep Trouble, Backbone Site and McCallavre to the list. The former two haven't had any significant conlang development (except for Scott's funky chemical notation that's been killing my brain tonight). McCallavre, on the other hand, has all of three languages of its own: Noêllen, Teocåntan, and Krever.

Actually, one or more of those languages may change...
Noêllen will probably stay, with Teocåntan and Krever possibly being replaced by Tokish (and one being moved to another county [once those Barony things get goin' I can lay claim to a second, although granted I should get all my stuff down for McCallavre eventually] and becoming a nice logical language)

Looks good. Just be aware that most of the Absentia counties will get renamed soon... I'll probably go in and fix it when it happens.

That'd be fine, Mike- any help would be appreciated
Just make sure you're doing the Lakhesian map in the same format as the one for K'Tzuni I posted, so I can add it on to the finished product later.
