LoSS
So I was just thinking... I seem to recall Shireroth was once member of the League of Secessionist States. I'm not sure why we left - it might have been because of joining Tymaria - or whether it was even Shireroth instead of Hyperborea or Jasonia or something that was in LoSS, but whatever the case, we're not a member now.
I guess the reason I'm interested in the LoSS is that, as they say, they're not a YAMO, they're The Micronational Organisation. They'll be celebrating their 30th birthday next year. Also, they've been considering moving at least some of their business off to a forum that sane people can like using. Yes, as always they're a bit stuffy and officialish, but hey, this is micronationalism, to be honest I sometimes feel Shireroth is too far on the other end from stuffy and official. Also, they're nifty enough to know not to proceed farther in that direction (see the responses).
So, yeah. Just bringing that up. I'm not so interested as to want to actually be Shireroth's delegate, you know . But in case someone turns up who does want us to join the LoSS and to be the delegate, well, just reminding you that it exists...

Re: LoSS
I don't wanna be a delegate, but I don't see why we don't join.
Re: LoSS
Well, they turned down Hurmu's application, grr!
ANyway, I see no harm in joining the micronational organization. It would bring us to other spheres and "sectors" and linguistic nations.
If commonwealth countries joined, they'd be like a bloc, able to pursue an agenda of a kind and to possibly bring more people here, to us, to the commonwealth, and our common economy.

Re: LoSS
I can't find any evidence of Shireroth having been a LoSS member... I guess we'll want to ask for sponsorship from Stormark or someone if we're going to join (you need to be sponsored by a member state to get in). But yeah, again, that depends on whether anyone actually wants to be a delegate.

Re: LoSS
Isn't the whole thing about not being a secessionist state a bit of a bar to joining the League of Secessionist States? If it was a League of Daft Sods Who All Want to Be The Next Napoleon But Who Lack the Necessary Charisma and Determination then I might possibly be in favour of joining...

I don't want Shireroth to join the LoSS. Reunion, Talossa and Torshavn are members, and I dislike those nations for some reason.

Re: LoSS
I'm pretty sure Ari is referring to the League of Micronations, a LoSS-ish body that was created as a reaction to how slow the LoSS moved and how stupid they generally were. Shireroth and Jasonia were both members of the LoM. I was Vice-... something at one point, a job that required me to do absolutely nothing.
Anyway, I'm not a big fan of the LoSS. They'll always disrespect nations like Shireroth no matter how long we're around because we're not a bunch of stuffy assholes. Driving those fools out of the main limelight of the hobby was one of the best things our sector ever accomplished.

Well, I was referring to the body that Ari was kind-of sure that Shireroth and Jasonia and older nations were a part of. That was the LoM. The LoSS wouldn't touch us with a ten-foot poll.

Re: LoSS
No LoSS. Many of them are nice people (especially Reunion) but our culture just doesn't mesh with their culture, and it's no use trying, especially when it gives no gain.

Re: LoSS
Amokolia was a member of the LoSS a couple years ago. I was the Deputy Secretary General actually. They were rebirthed during my time there. :P. I totally agree with joining. It would make progress not for just Shireroth, but as we said, the whole Micras Sector.

I don't look fondly on the either the LoSS or the LoM, but it might help us get some more name recognition.

Stormark would be willing to sponsor Shireroth's membership application if/when it wishes to join the LoSS.Ari Rahikkala wrote:I can't find any evidence of Shireroth having been a LoSS member...
