Hmm...I should look into laws dictating whether I can be emissary to the landsraad for Straylight and a noble in another duchy at the same time or not. :D

Corey--I have yet to hear of an absolute prohibition that would prevent you from doing so, but it is possible that was an ommision from the Lawbook because that eventuality was not dreamed of when the laws were drafted.

I know you cannot be a noble in two different duchies (or something like that), but I'm not a noble in Straylight, so I guess it could technically be possible. It would require a ruling from the judex, I suppose...

Doesn't it say that you can be anything lower than a baron in mulitple Duchies?

I think we still would have to ask that of either Erik or Mike. I was under the impression that one lived in a single duchy, but could interact in all, unless restricted from doing so by some specific prohibition, such as a duchy legislature's sessions.

Jess is basically right. Since counts aren't recognized as nobles in imperial law, you can be a count, or at least something else than baron or duke, in multiple duchies.

Ok, scenario: I am count of McCallavre and emissary to the landsraad for Straylight. I am also a Baron (a full baron, not by marriage) in Yardistan. Is this legal?

Anyway, Liam, wouldn't that mean transfering your citizenship to Yardistan? I think...you could still be count McGyver or whatever.

Ooohh, right!! I forgot you two were from different duchies. You would not be joint rulers but you would still be Consort to Baroness Gilrean, with no official power, but would merely be her husband in Shireroth. This would be akin to Prince Philip who was a prince already (from Greece, I believe) when he married the Princess Elizabeth. When she became Queen, he could not also rule.

Well, no, this is coming from if I had a legitimate Yardistani Barony of my own...hypothetically...
