But the point is, he hasn't shown nothing but loyalty and devotion to Shireroth as evidenced by him starting a new micronation in February. You can't convince me otherwise. :rolleyes

So you mean that it is okay to be a citizen of another micronation, as you are, but it is not okay to start a new one?

It is quite okay to be John Darcy, but once you stray outside of those parameters, things get a bit iffy.

Example 1: Barack Obama takes up citizenship of Kenya. He holds no formal nor informal positions there, just a passport. Whilst there would be an enormous hue and cry and calls for his impeachment, I'm not entirely certain that he would breach the laws of either nation. Nevertheless, it's not the done thing, is it?

Example 2: Lou Piniella, who is entitled to claim citizenship of Spain by grandparentage, is offered the crown of Spain upon the death of Juan Carlos. Piniella is an American citizen by birth and was schooled in the USA so he would have recited the Pledge of Allegiance a coupla thousand times. What would it say about his loyalty to the United States if he did become King of Spain?

These two examples involve nations with large populations. It is possible to be a nobody; however it is almost impossible to be a nobody in a micronation. Everybody does something prominent, and if you have split loyalties then you are not being true to any of them.

Example 3: John Darcy is the reigning monarch of a micronation which has no contact nor connection with Shireroth, nor with any other micronation on Micras. John comes to Shireroth just as himself and begins putting some ideas and effort to work in the Shirerothian way, without at any time citing his other micronationality. Sure, I'm not giving 100% to either one, but I'm not waving the other flag around here either. Whilst in Shireroth, I am Shirerothian and nothing else.

Discontinuity Acknowledged.

It is theoretically possible for Bill Clinton to be elected President of France.

That's one reason micronationry is more fun, especially in Shireroth. :party

'cepting on this - he's not promoting the Shirerothian way. ... and while not citing his other micronationality he sure did make a reference to the fact it exist just to tell us he didn't cite it.

All three real good real life examples tho (yea sure).

I'm almost certain this holds no pratical legal meaning. Kids do what they are told. They're too young to understand what the pledge of allegiance means. Honestly I'd rather they have people recite it once or twice when they're older though. Maybe when you get your driver's license renewed or something.

John is a micronational icon, but he's a newbie in Shireroth. Cut him a wee bit 'o slack, me buckos!

They made us recite the pledge every day.

Which reminds me.
From my first micronation (the one Shem and I did on clay in cuneiform.)
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of the Imperial Kingdom of Poland
And to the Bureaucracy for which it stands,
One Empire, over all, divisible,
With tyranny and justice for some.
Amazing what one remembers.

John, a lot of the citizens are 'disabusing' their citizenship to get treaties when the time is right. That includes me (I have played representative of Batavia before) and Andreas (Gralus), but you can't say we are traitors to Shireroth.
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

This has been put on hold since we changed the way we recognize other nations. When we get everything in order at the MiniEx you'll be the first to know. :)

IMHO, Dura needs a pretty letter saying nice things, esp. in light of this:

MCS acceptance.
