I met some Russians recently. Apparently, it is Russian Christmas today. Or Orthodox Christmas. Or something. Though apparently they do not eat gherkins or generally celebrate much... I dunno, I thought it was worth celebrating anyway.

Russian Orthodox Xmas is a miserable affair by comparison to Western Christianity.
I think the Greeks, Serbs and Bulgarians also have Christmas today, but what the hell.

Not very pious for a former Matbaic Zatriarch, are we, Your Holiness? :no

One of the people I met has her birthday on Russian Christmas. So it is still celebrated in that household at least. :kaiser
