An idea for a new feudal system

Post by andelarion »

Okay, what do you think about this?

For every citizen a duchy or independent barony has, it may claim one county. A duchy of six citizens may claim six counties. When it comes to claiming new counties, only counties adjacent to the duchy or the independent barony are claimable. This rule may be bent on a case-to-case basis.

Dukes/Indy barons may appoint counts to their subjugated counties, but they are in no way obligated to do so.

Every duchy gets 10 votes, every independent barony 2. The low vote for independent baronies is there to encourage duchy-building. Duchies with baronies under them may give those baronies votes in the Landsraad, but this is not necessary. Baronies in feudal relationship to duchies may have at the most 5 votes.

I don't see how that is different from the system we have now, other than simplifying the math for the math st00pids. :p

Why don't we actually have some blue blooded feudalism?

With the King subinfeudating (can I do that with the word...) the land to citizens, title's resulting. Thus, the most loyal, or eldest citizens will be granted land.

New citizens shall emmigrate to a county, and work their way up the duchy/barony.

Barons/Dukes will have power in the laadsraad, others being appointed to the Royal/Imperial Court to serve as Ministers or equivilant.

We could proclaim it the Glorious Restoration. ;)

(Obviously this is only a brief sketch...and I know I'm only new...so maybe I should keep quiet on such matters...but still...)

Oh...and obviously we could work some checks and balances it to prevent a Royal European Tyranny. ;)

I'm pretty sure that most people would want to keep most of the absolute power of the Kaiser... Mind you, it's still quite an oxymoron with feudalism, but Shireroth is odd like that.

Yes, I was thinking along British lines, but obviously, homebrew as it were, a grand sham based around feudalism, which stops the proles getting power and wrangles the rest through an elaborate set of shambolic practices, whislt real power rests with government. But this would probably put everyone off...

While this does sound quite similar to the current system in place, the simplification of the vote counts does sound like a nice idea. Hell, i'm good at math and I had trouble following the vote counts. Maybe a hodgepodge of this "true" feudalism and this simplified version of the current system?

oh and sorry for having been gone

Yeah, I'm doing good, just taking it easy in micronationalism.

Hey, can I be a citizen of Shireroth, would I have to be a citizen of one of the smaller constituents or could I just be a 'Shirerothian'?

I hope there are no scary initiation ceremonies!!! :confused

If you consider sodomizing small songbirds "scary..." :D

There may be a small issue with you being a world leader; might want to talk to the Kaiser.

Uhu, I'm beginnin to regret I ever asked :fish

The whole world leader thing shouldn't be a problem as I resigned from the CIS Presidency over two months ago.

I'm just a lonely old micronationalist with nowhere to go.

Oh and by the way, what is the current population of Shireroth? Perhaps I could get some Lovelies to come along and Shireroth can get all of it's old land back!

Can you maybe think about getting a new name? It's not fair to make us call you the President when you aren't anymore. :D
Seriously, though. (Maybe you could work as the Director of BISI?)

That's essentially how everything worked a few months ago. However, everybody whined because nobody likes to work to get anywhere in this day and age, so they changed it to the system we have now.[/quote]

Oooh, just an update, I've been elected back into the Presidency, voting ended today with me winning 80% of the votes against my rival candidate.
