Concerning Elliot Markham
Concerning the fictional character Elliot Markham:
Elliot Markham has died in a freak rockclimbing-parasailing accident while scaling Micras' largest peak.
This is his as-yet-unnamed friend posting under his account.

We will remember him a hero; he pioneered the whole mountain-parasailing industry...

It was an epic failure indeed. The explosion could be seen for miles.

At least he died with some style...
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Re: Concerning Elliot Markham
As a Melangian lawyer, I obtain new clients like new antiquities--seeking only the best. Indeed, Mr Markham was the best of clients, so I am honored to execute his estate and trust funds, providing comfortable livelihoods for both his wife and young son. I also now hold title to all his Batavian estates. All Shireroth inquiries regarding Mr Elliot Markham should be directed to my Shireroth offices:

256 Terre de' Riches Plaza

What a luck that we don't have baronies any more, or the address would be even longer.

The postal code system I have in development would have it looking like this:
Gil'les Mel'ang, Esq.
256 Terre de Riches Pl
Forestshire, Melangia
61490 Kildare

Pl stands for "Place", not "Plaza".

That would be Spanish in fact.

Re: Concerning Elliot Markham
That is correct, but Plaza uses the abbreviation Plz and Place uses the abbreviation Pl. Interestingly, I have seen before where there are two streets numbered and they need to stick a new street in-between the streets without affecting the numbering scheme (egads!), they will take one of the parallel streets numbers and then add Pl to it. So inbetween 82nd St and 83rd St might be 82nd Pl. I have also seen cities that make all avenues east-west and all streets north-south, and other cities do vice-versa. Others don't make the avenues and streets correspond to direction. However you don't see many post-1950s developments planned this way. Now it's all about subdivisions and cul-de-sacs.

Spanish is derived from Latin.Daniel Farewell wrote:That would be Spanish in fact.
They're both Pl here to help the Shirepost sorting machinesGil'les Mel'ang wrote:That is correct, but Plaza uses the abbreviation Plz and Place uses the abbreviation Pl.
