Bigger coat of arms

Post by CJ Miller »

I made a high-res version of the Shirithian coat of arms.

Image

The motto is bastardized Latin for "Malarbor demands it".

Also, I made a PDF version of the Charter.

http://www.fileden.com/files/2010/5/25/ ... reroth.pdf

I might do the same with the Lawbook and Decreebook someday if they weren't amended so often.

Quite neat. How about a "paper is cheap" version of the charter... i.e. one where each section starts on a new page? The Arbiter heading is especially badly orphaned...

Cool, CJ! You should become Shireroth's official scribe, pdf-ing important documents, decrees, speeches and stories of importance!

At the risk of raining on the parade:

The bottom right hand symbol is not a snowflake, it's a Star of Vergina. Those need sixteen rays or they don't count. The things on the top are mangoes, not circles, and the tree's supposed to have a crown on it. There should be a crown on the top of the shield, and two moose supporting. Malarbor requiro is is misformed Latin: it should be something more like "Malarbor id mandat", and I think our real Latin motto is "Shireroth sumus, tempus in parte nostrum est".

We definitely do need a better version of the crest, though. You should talk to Craiteman, he seems pretty good with this sort of thing.

PDF charter is really neat, though. Good work.

I used Inkwell Ideas' Coat of Arms Design Software, which didn't have a star of Vergina or a mango; nor did it have support for crests or supporters.

Machine translator. And the Latinized form of Shireroth is Sirithia.

It wasn't Craitman that did the arms, it was Regicollis, and he's nowhere to be found.

So, a CoA design software that doesn't do a star of Vergina, crests, supporters etc? I think the name is a tad misrepresentational.

The best ever micronational arms might be the ones issued by Harald to his wife, Sigrid.

http://vikings.invisionzone.com/index.p ... &p=1909008

We should definitely find that guy who made those arms. But he charges though. Harald should know more.

As I said, though you had already logged off, last night. I like the charter and with the proper symbols and motto the crest would be a nice option for use.

I don't quite follow you. Going around declaring the "Latinized form of Shireroth" sounds like fail to me.

The Latin for Shireroth is 'Shireroth'. It's a proper noun with NO Latin root.

Latin doesn't have an "sh" sound, so those tend to get changed to 's's - ie Washington's Latin name is Vasingtonia (see Latin names). And most places get an ia or ium at the end. So I think "Sirithia" is a pretty good guess (except for the part where it sounds like "Sirithil")

Nice work- would I be right in saying, however, that the three circles at the top of the shield should in fact be Mangoes?

Better, but I still want to see mangoes.
The character Andreas the Wise is on indefinite leave.
However, this account still manages:
Cla'Udi - Count of Melangia
Manuel - CEO of VBNC. For all you'll ever need.
Vincent Waldgrave - Lord General of Gralus
Q - Director of SAMIN
Duke Mel'Kat - Air Pirate, Melangian, and Duke of the Flying Duchy of Glanurchy

And references may be made to Vur'Alm Xei'Bôn (a Nelagan Micron of undisclosed purpose).

He's Swedish - Elk are probably to him the nightmarish harbingers of Sami marauders hurtling down on their toboggans from the Finnmark to bring rapine and inedible reindeer jerky into suburban Stockholm. Whilst Mangos are the only means of effective defence available to the impoverished Swedish conscript army.

Actually, the conscript army has been abolished. It will be professional and voluntary from now on.

Must vary among Swedes.

Someone should draw "Sami marauders". Probably allies of the fierce !T'Kung nomad legions of the Kalahari.
