The New Micronational Survey

The International Centre for Micropatriology are very pleased to announce the release of their 2010 Micronational Survey, available here. Like last year, this survey aims to gain an understanding of the opinions, actions and views of micronationalists across our sector, and to be able to build on the results of last year to see how our sector has changed within the last 18 months. To that end, we've included almost all of the questions from last year; as well as adding some new questions relevant to our condition today.

To make this survey a success, we need as many micronationalists as possible to fill out this survey. The more people who can participate, the more accurate conclusions we can draw. Last year we had 52 respondents. Let's see if we can get 80 or even 100 this year!

So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and fill it out!

Question: this survey is for the Anglophone Sector, but what if your primary nation isn't from this Sector (just asking)? :p

Could it be possible to set up a survey for the Dutch Sector? I'm willing to give the list of Dutch nations. ;)

While the survey is obviously addressed at the Anglophone sector, I'm very happy to include Batavia in that broad definition (notice the 'Rate Batavia question'). I'd love for you to post this in Batavia (sent you a pm about it, in fact), because Batavia certainly interacts with us; and if you want to post it in other Dutch nations that have some vague connection with the MCS, that'd be great too. If they list a Dutch micronation as their 'nation of primary residency', it's fairly easy for me (when aggregating the results) to do some analysis on Dutch nations separate from the rest of the respondents. As long as you can tell me what the Dutch nations are.

In that case... I would love to see a separated survey too (questions can be asked in English). :angel
- Batavia ( http://batavie.nl )
- Flanders ( http://vlaanderen.micronatie.nl/forum/ )
- Nederlanden ( http://www.derepubliek.eu/vvp/forum/phpbb304/ )

All three are member of the MCS. ;)

As I said, post a link in their forums, get them to fill it out, and I'll be sure to present de-aggregated results. I'll even send you the raw data for Dutch nations if you like.

Why are you in micronationalism?

I want to eventually secede and start a "real" country.
^ Ryan in 1999

I want to simulate the workings of a country.
^ Ryan in 2003

I want to use it as a "laboratory" for my ideas about politics and nationhood.
^ Ryan in 2006

I want to develop a culture (conworlding, conlanging, etc.).
^ Ryan in 2010

Honestly, Andreas, a question like that should have the option to check multiple boxes, since many of us are here for a combination of the reasons listed.

Another thing: Ot was 'Robland' (a Belgian TV-program like that of Danny Wallace) that led me discover micronations. Just saying, so that the guy doesn't get all the credits. ;)

Well you're filling the survey out NOW, not in 1999, 2003, or 2006. It's not asking for your life story; it's asking for your current beliefs and interets. That's the point of asking similar questions year after year, to see if peoples' interests change or stay the same.

There is a reason to have just one choosable option in each question. It's easier to evaluate the result.

For the most part, I took questions straight from last years survey, which were generally multiple choice. The main modifications were just adding my own questions.
@Erik - good save, fixed that.

*As he fills out the survey, idly wonders what kind of plant the MCS would be*

Which make good tea. Toss in a little mint or ginger for balance and it makes for an interesting brew.
