Fun with duchy colours

Post by Ari Rahikkala »

Well, with the reintroduction of Goldshire it's time to screw with the way people get colour-coded according to their duchy of residence again. Do we like this system? Because, you know, I like them, but I'm not attached, I didn't really ask anyone before I introduced it, and if people think it's pointless or makes the forum ugly I can easily get rid of it.

If you do agree with having it, well, here are the current colours. I just introduced Goldshire (obviously giving it a faded gold-ish colour) and made Yardistan a little bit greener to make it a little bit more distinctive:

Brookshirithian
Elwynnese
Goldshirithian
Kildarian
Yardistani
Straylightian

Any opinions on if any colours should be adjusted?

I very much like the adjusted Yardistan. Goldshire's good too. I've never been convinced about the Kildarian grey, however (I prefer a slightly more colourful option, but don't have any particular one in mind).

Brookshire, I must admit, annoys me, because its so similar to the Admin colour I was used to seeing Erik as, and so now I see any name in that colour and assume it's Erik. 50% of the time I'm right, but still ...

Go with those colours. It helps to know who you are dealing with at a glance.

I strongly approve of the duchy-colored system. I also like Goldshire's gold-orange. Cheers.

Can you make Brookshire lighter? It's hard to read on the dark background as is.

It's a bit difficult to do that without coming too close to the colour of forum links (which would IMO not be a very good thing for usability). I could make it even brighter but then it'd stand out too much IMO. Ideas?

I personally like the Brookshire colour. Yardistan and Goldshire still irk me, but they'll do.

I like the second. It doesn't seem too similar to the links (see my sig for a link)

Hm, yeah, that looks good, except that with that change Yardistan ended up looking a bit too plain in relation to the rest IMO so I greenified it even further...

How come the duchy colors look all fucked up in my FF? As well as the link colors. Starting to be annoying.

SIR, AS MUCH TRUST AS YOU MIGHT PLACE IN ME, I AM NOT PSYCHIC, AND I DO NOT KNOW WHAT "ALL FUCKED UP" MEANS. FOR A START, A SCREENSHOT WOULD BE APPRECIATED SO THAT I MIGHT ACTUALLY HAVE A CHANCE TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM, WHICH I ASSURE YOU I DO WANT TO DO!

Please make Yardistani a bit darker. It's so light green. :tomcutterhamonfire
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki
