ShireCon for 10th birthday?
What do people feel about a shirerothian meet to celebrate the 10th anniversary of shireroth's creation?
Scott and I have been talking on MSN about it and such we were thinking london as a good place for it?
any ideas, any inputs?

Re: ShireCon for 10th birthday?
we might be able to do simultaneous ShireCon's? I know we've done a few in the Bay area California (where the first Shireroth was founded, in a certain back yard *wink*) And thanks to modern technology, we could hold a couple link up's via phone, or PC, or what have you. joining multiple locals at the same time.
I might now of a few places we could all hang out, or we could just do a mini-meet up like we did a few years back in SJ CA. (met hypatia, erik(if i recall correctly) and rakalla(who has since departed) as well as Gryphon i beleive)-)
Just throwin that out there. When is the B-day specifically, again?

Re: ShireCon for 10th birthday?
Doing two simultaneously would be awesome.
Birthday's April 24.
The London side could probably get the same group who went to Blackfriars last time (me, Spangle, Ardy, Iain, Max, Benkern). It would be especially wonderful if we could get Ric, Jonas, and Ari as well. In particular we've been trying to coax Ari out of Finland for the past ten years, and I think it's high time he finally met some of us.
Mike, you live in Sweden, don't you? Can't you get a cheap RyanAir flight to London? We could probably plan it around your schedule, unless your schedule is really awful.

I'd like to see photos of Ari. I'd like proof he's not actually a super-advanced AI program.

Hey, I planned for this first
If people are going to show up in London then, I will be there.

Re: ShireCon for 10th birthday?
Sorry, April will be impossible to me (school and have to get my driver license). But the year thereafter would be possible my first meeting with micronationalists in RL.
But yes, London isn't too far for me (driving some kilometres, shipping in, on the boat, shipping off, driving some kilometres again). At least, in comparison with the U.S. (about that... maybe next summer I will travel to the U.S., with a bit of luck, we can hold a meeting ).

From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

If you can find me some cheap airfair and I can crash at someone's house, I might be able to go to the USA meet. I'd like to see Erik and the others again.

London in April should be OK for me, though things are a little bit difficult. I will try and save up money for it. I hope to come.
Any good places to stay a night? I am officially classed as poor in this country soooooo... :P

Ric, if we meet at Blackfriars again (and the Babkhans will probably insist) there's a hostel right next door. I'll show you.
If Jonas is coming to the USA in the summer...well...I might also be in the USA in the summer. We could either have the US half of the convention in the summer, or have a second one then.

Re: ShireCon for 10th birthday?
If someone could present me with a cheap way to get to London from San Fransisco, San Jose, Oakland or LAX....(or some other US air port/city)... I would go.... Might even be able to get Nick to come along.... though to do that it would need to be the summer.

Re: ShireCon for 10th birthday?
ShireCon? Delicious!
I'm not even a citizen here anymore, but I'll be happy to come along- as long as this is in the University holidays, I'll be able to come along- probably laden with cheap Israeli whiskey and cigarettes for any Babkhans who happen to materialise.
Oh, and Blackfriars underground station is closed until 2011, I think. So probably get out in... Temple? Mansion House?
There are some other nice pubs we can invade in the vicinity, too. A walk to Fleet Street brings one to the Old Cheshire Cheese, which is pretty win.

Work sucks, especially as I'm enmeshed in vast personal chaos.
When?
April next year?
US, maybe, erf.

This is always an option but you would have to exercise discretion as there are probably people on there who make me seem well rounded and normal.

Re: ShireCon for 10th birthday?
Kathbad, I doubt it's set in stone that we have to do it exactly April 24th. I'm sure not going if it conflicts with my finals (which it might). Let's wait until a few months before, when we all know our schedules a little better, and then we'll decide the exact date.

Why don't we just do it in the summer? Then there is a higher chance more can go.

Re: ShireCon for 10th birthday?
This is true. Summer would be way better.
I know it's well in advance but that could mean it'd be one of the largest MN meets ever.

Summer would be great, though I think I'd only be able to make it across the North Sea, not the Atlantic :-/

I don't *really* know my schedule for that time either (though I really don't believe anything that would stop me from getting to this ShireCon will turn up)... I think we're going to have to get back to this in a few months.

Late June to August next summer I'm probably fucking off to Ukraine + Hungary, then Israel again.
If this event is then I'll probably join you via WebCam, probably revoltingly drunk wearing a Cossack Uniform.
